Lockdown Tiers

I think that at -least- Loadouts should by default be -not- marked for PvP. Possibly there should be other changes as well, but this single mechanic is cause for confusion in the majority of first-time lockdown players (esp. right after homecoming handed out 2* swords and shields that they naturally equipped disqualifying them from T1 lockdown, but even without that special case still a big probem).

People (including me!) naturally expect their -current equipment- to define their Tier. Finding out later that you can mark loadouts for PvP would be finding out a way to improve your play; finding out at the time that you are now in T3 lockdown wearing Tier-1 gear, and then desperately figuring out that you have to use your exisiting loadouts with 2 bad options of mixed gear that may only include a couple 4* pieces .... is a good way to discourage people from ever playing Lockdown again.

Ok, most but definitely not all lockdown-noobs end up in T2 not T3. Still pretty painful. And yes, I was a misplaced Tier-3 lockdown noob in T1 gear once upon a time. I'm sure my teammates hated me for it, just as I hate the #?*! idiots that I see showing up in something close to proto-set. But it happens -way- too often to blame the individual, the mechanics are making it inevitable and need to be tweaked.

Possibly there should be other changes to the tier interface .... esp. fixing the buggy way that 'Spectate' describes Tier-2 as Tier-1 and Tier-3 as Tier-2 ....
but also there may be other ways to better let players change tier without tedious marking/unmarking. Marking loadouts as not-PvP by default is simple, but what I'd -rather- see is joining-Tier being determined by current equipment, and only allowing people to switch gear to loadouts that are appropriate to the current Tier. Tiers are already calculated for every loadout, and there's already a filter on allowing loadout selection so it oughtn't be too hard (although i can imagine implementations that -would- make it hard. Hope they are only imaginings).

+1

Definitely. This is the main reason we don't see Tier 1 matches very often.

Blueheron, +1 this right now!

SEVERAL times have I tried to

SEVERAL times have I tried to get a Guildie or a Friend join me in a good ol' fashioned match of Hatchets and Hammers.

The only problem is, they often had a loadout that prevented them from entering. It's a HUGE inconvenience for players to have to constantly switch their loadouts on and off, especially if they're like me and have a tendency to forget to do so before entering Tier 3.

Why not have each loadout earn a special mark depending on the tier it's listed as? And only make the relevantly marked loadouts capable of being equipped in their respective Lockdown match. OR, you could make it so the game HIDES the incompatible loadouts within the match.

Either way, I'd enjoy this! I'd be able to get more friends into Tier 1 Lockdown! Plus 1.

To be honest, I think they should just completely remove the PVP loadout system and let players switch to any tier appropriate equipment.

The main problem

Most noobs that appear in tier 3 are knights with full 3 star equip and one 4 star item. They should make a tier 2.5 for players that may not have full 5 star but at least one 4 star gear. Everyone knows that most people in tier 3 LD are seasoned veterans with full skolver, snarbolax, and heart trinkets. Adding this extra tier would be a conservative move as most players take the longest time going from 3* to 4* and finally 5*, being forced to play tier 2 LD or becoming mincemeat in tier 3 is unfair; many SK players fall into this category and just avoid LD altogether.

what do you mean unfair

Are you saying Tier 2 LD is worse than Tier 3 LD? T2 has a bunch of good players waiting to make the transition to T3, myself included. "seasoned veterans" as you would say. Plus, it has people who don't even like T3 because it's so unbalanced. And there aren't enough people playing LD to warrant a T2.5 LD, which will be filled by people with full 5* max UV gear and a 4* shield, or a 4th 4* weapon anyway.

#1 No Tier 2.5, people can't possibly bother to craft a full 4 star set to play in Tier 2.5. There might not even be enough people playing, just like Tier 1, it is barren!~

#2 People who usually reach 4 star should not be considered "noob" in a way that they should have known how LD works. To be frank, T2 has more noobs than T3, because the free cobalt sets from the missions automatically acknowledge them as T2 and throws all the newcomers in. There are even some proto sets coming in, with only a 2 star weapon (the calibur), and this automatically brings them to T2. So if you say T3 is much more unfair, speak to the T2 vets first.

thats true

T3 is more unfair - from a balance standpoint. But that's an argument for another thread.

T3 basically calls for heart

T3 basically calls for heart trinkets to live plus some the top players use ASI Weapons like Hydrohaze
