Just wondering,

Does anybody have any experience with using the various flourish lines (rigadoon, flamberge, standard) in LD? Is the 40 or so damage difference between lines actually noticeable? And what does the status chance feel like? As in, not hard data on how often you cause status, but whether on an emotional level it's a fun thing to have.

The status flourishes....

Use normal, the damage difference IS evident and the flamberge and riggadoon are obselete since their statuses rarely happen.

The damage difference is tangible, yes. The status chance feels too low and the status itself is generally agreed to be too weak to be worthwhile. If the proc rates were bumped up by one stage, then they would be somewhat a more worthwhile investment for LD games and so forth, since the statuses are useful there, but as they stand, I wouldn't go out of your way to get one.

Well

I've seen some guy in LD (I think it was Flambo-Bg or something) use rigadoon and magnus in LD. He's pretty good, and stuns a lot.

Damage buffs.

The initial differece is small, but since armors like Skolver increase damage by a % based on original power, the gap becomes higher and higher.

Particulary flamberge, fire won't scale. Riggadon and stun offer different opportunities than raw damage.

Yes, it was probably him. I primarily play t2 LD, because there is not quite as much GF/Hammer/DA(Don't see that many of these though)/Valiance/Polaris spam. A bit of Kilowatt and Hammer, but mainly toothpick and SS. Much easier to deal with. Also, I use my other main for LD, and it's only t2.

Now that I think of it, I remember some guy saying flamberge was good for t2 LD. He also mentioned it was when the alternate to wolver was skelly, and that had negative fire res (when did they remove that o.O?). Shouldn't make too much of a difference though, because damage goes up to a maximum of vhi with swords (wolver+striker), and they are much weaker. The fire DoT is also good for lengthy, drawn out fights.

Rigadoon isn't supposed to be used for DPS imo. More like Callahan, where you can use it as defense, to keep people away from you. Or if you stun them, they are helpless and you can wreck them with a DPS weapon.

I've heated and used a Furious Flamberge, even in Lockdown. The only time I wasn't wishing that I had my FF was when it caught a recon bomber on fire. His cloak broke, and his steady streams of bombs would occasionally get disrupted from ticks of fire damage. That happened once in the entire evening.
