So, a while back I heard rumors about both of these swords. I heard that the Barbarous Thorn Blade did more damage compared to the Final Flourish but was slower in comparison, while on the other hand there was Final Flourish which did less damage but was faster. So in my free time I decided to take it look at both of them on the Wiki found here:
http://wiki.spiralknights.com/Final_Flourish
http://wiki.spiralknights.com/Barbarous_Thorn_Blade
So according to the Wiki both do the same damage per slash but what about speed, do they both have the same attack speed or is the Wiki wrong? Or are the rumors true? Has anyone test this out yet? Thanks

Some people tested it out yes

Barbarous Thorn Blade and Final Flourish do have the same attack speed. They also have the same damage on normal swings. If you searched the forum, you'd have seen the countless threads in Arsenal with the same answer.

Literally the only difference

Literally the only difference between them is the charge. I happen to prefer the Barb's charge as it is less likely to get me killed when I use it, but it really just comes down to preference and playstyle (and patience in the Barb's case due to the method for getting the recipes).

I was asking this because I was going to try and find a Barbarous Thorn Blade or an item from that line with Asi high or something but thanks to the info Fradow gave, I don't think I'll be getting a Barbarous Thorn Blade as I already have a Final Flourish with Asi med which cost way too much for me to roll. (Punch hates me, and I could have used the Cr to get a Asi high one with Cr to spare. D:).

Id rather have Final Flourish over Barbarous Thorn Blade, I think it looks cool and matches with the skolver, other than that and the UVs they have, it doesnt really matter (Unless you use the charged attack a lot), their speed is the same.

On the other side, Ive heard a lot of rumors on the Gran Faust being faster than the Divine Avenger, I know that both, the Gran Faust and Divine Avenger speed bars are bugged, and according to the link above, their Combos per minute are almost the exact same (Guessing that its not exact data, their speed ight be the same), but Ive heard a lot of people saying that the First swing of the Gran Faust is faster than the First wing of the Divine Avenger, and that the Second swing of the Divine Avenger is faster than the Second swing of the Gran Faust. It might be true.

Im pretty sure their speed is the exact same, but I wonder what other people think.

EDIT: And doesnt this go on The Arsenal?

It might be cool to make those rumors true. I mean sure different charge, but more variations among the 3 flourishes and BTB wouldn't hurt.

you could see me coming

As others have pointed out, FF and BTB are identical in regular attacks: pattern, size, speed, and damage are all the same. Lancer Knightz have also measured charge speed. BTB charges a bit faster (21 charges per minute, vs. just 17.5). My summary of all of this is here.

I wish they had more of a difference. I should have went with the Btb. >.<

oh dear

I should have went with the Btb.

I don't know how you arrived at that conclusion from what was said here.

I went with FF a while back because I though it was faster; which shown on this thread was proven wrong. The Btb has a better charge compared to FF in my opinion and is less dangerous to use.

Well, honestly unless you shouldn't be using the charges on that kind of sword very much, if you like using charges a lot I recommend getting a DBB for enemies weak to piercing, but other then any kind of 5* brandish covers your problems if you like to charge a lot.

The charge would have been nice and in my opinion better than the FF's charge but it's not a biggie just something that makes the Btb better in my mind.
Also if I can have weapons which can do different stuff the better. So that way I wouldn't have to bring an item for large crowds of monsters, just a sword to cover both small crowds and larger ones.

I have a DTB, and I like it a lot. If what they say is true and the stats are the same between the Flourish line and the Barb line, I'd totally stick with the barb.

IMO, the Flourish line's charge leaves you far too vulnerable. You literally run straight forward, hacking and slashing. Miss, and you're likely to get hit. Hit, you're still vulnerable.

Barbs give you a straight forward charge attack with a wide spread and knockback. Great for mobs, because then you don't have to rush into the midst of them and accidentally get stuck.

I only use mine against 'weak-to' enemies though. I have other swords for the standard jobs.

Well, I'm glad that we could clear up the speed issue for you. As for the charge issue, you're entitled to your opinion about which is better. Just don't beat yourself up over your choice. Even if you did get a BTB at this point, you might find that you don't prefer it significantly over FF. Cheers.
