i downloaded spiral spy and tried to open it but i cant. i have seen examples of it placed in the directory and notice that it must be an executable jar file. for some reason, this does not happen for me.

No, you just need to change
No, you just need to change the default program it opens with. If you have an extractor program, it might be trying to open it with that. Right click on it and select "Open as" or go into properties and change the default program.
Some extractors (like WinRAR) like to try to open .jar files and look at all their contents.
Might be Zip file.
Check on that.
