Hello Technical Support. I am currently in the midst of problems while trying to run Spiral Knights on my 2006 IBM ThinkPad T60 laptop. Before I continue explaining my situation, I would like to give you my computers' specifications:

2006 IBM ThinkPad T60:
-1.66 GHz Intel Core Duo (T2300E) @ 1.66 GHz (Dual Core)
-2 GB PC2-5300 (DDR2) RAM @ 667 MHz
-120 GB Western Digital Scorpio (sATA 1.5)
-Mobile Intel 945 Express Graphics (256 MB)
-Windows 8 Pro 32-Bit

What I cannot understand is why it cannot launch. My computer does meet the minimum specifications to run Spiral Knights. I have updated all of my drivers, and software to their recent versions, and it still won't launch. I've gone to Intel's website to download the latest graphics driver, and their most recent version available is 8.15.10.1xxx, and I have 8.15.10.2697. I went to Lenovo's website to get the display driver, but then the installer won't execute, even though Windows asks if this program can make changes to your computer.

I would like to play Spiral Knights© again, but I wasn't able to launch it at all. Please help me out.

Did you update your java to the latest? Sounds like you got a new comp, so I figured you need java.

Get your java here.

Java is updated still no screen

I have the same issue. I updated my video card, updated my java, and still i can't get SK to work through Steam. But in an independent download of the game, that version works fine. Why and what can I do?

Oh, and I'm logging in through steam, ideally.

Then that is steam problem, and this question will have to be directed to Valve and the steam community.

Lucky for you, I am a steam user too, and I believe you need to give me more details on your errors, or methods in trying to run the game.

Fix

Yes, it appears that Steam is using an old version of Java.
However, Spiral Knights on Steam DO NOT use the Java already natively installed. Instead, it is in it's own Steam (different) directory.

You can download the latest public release of Java,

or for brave souls who wants to try a beta version of the public release, you can download the latest version of Java 7.

For BOTH 32-bit and 64-bit systems, go to

C:\Program Files\Java\jre7

After you installed the Java update (IMPORTANT), and copy (do not CUT or you will have to reinstall Java on your PC) everything in the \jre7 directory,
then place the copied content (replace, or you can just delete everything in the folder and place the copied files in to be safe.) into

x64
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Spiral Knights\java_vm

x86
C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\Spiral Knights\java_vm

Warning:
Do not verify files! Each time you do so you must repeat this procedure. However, Steam updates do not appear to change anything in the java_vm directory so it is safe and as long as you do not uninstall (or else you must repeat these steps).

I hope this will help. :P (Credit taken from Steam Forums, this is not my work. Also, I will not be responsible for any bugs or breakdowns using betas.)

^ this worked for me.

Updated to Java 7 u21. SK via Steam stopped loading. It would initiate then terminate.

SK.com would work fine, but not SK through steam. Thought it was something with the new patch yesterday.

This solution worked perfectly. Thanks.
