To get started, We know that Lockdown, or LD, is the PvP game which is considered to be fun.
But as you see, There are some people who ruin the game by complaining about certain weapons or classes.

Here is a list of things people use as complaints.

Polaris: "OMG POLARIS NOOB, PLEASE STOP SPAM OMG SUCH A NOOB CANT LIVE WITHOUT POLARIS LOLOLOTROLL" Ok, The polaris is the weapon which is hated by 3/4th of the Lockdown Community, But isn't it a weapon? a weapon has it's rights!!

Well anyway, considering Polaris/Supernova/Biohazard Are the slowest guns in game, Some people might argue and say that "People don't know how to use polaris, they just spam all 3 bullets, and even if you shoot it anywhere, it still hits someone" Well, i Agree to the statement, But weapons are weapons
All weapons have it's rights, #Norasicm. People use 2 bullets of Polaris at LD, To prevent reloading, but some just move around shooting it, and people get annoyed, and are like "STOP IT POLARIS NOOB, POLARIS IS A STUPID WEP" So,

Hammer/Gran faust With AA/AT: "OMG HAMMER NOOB, CANT LIVE WITHOUT AA OMG STOP IT, LIVE WITHOUT AA OMGOMGOMGOMGLOLOLOLOL"
or "STUPID GRAN FAUST, YOU NOOB LEARN TO LIVE WITHOUT AA" Ok, Let me make this straight Hammers are bought with REAL MONEY, And people have all the rights to use it at LD Though the gran faust isn't much crictisized, Why is the hammer? :( #Norasicm
Anyway, I'm sure it annoys someone if an AA/AT hammer rush comes and strikes them, but it is a slow weapon, and if you move, you can dodge.
It's easy to dodge the hammer if you have a good eye, so another important message Learn to Dodge

Gunslingers/Bombers: "I HATE GUNNERS THEY ARE NOOBS ALWAYS COMBOING AND ARRGHHH I HATE THEM AAAHHH I'M DYING NOOO" or "SO MANY FRIGGIN BOMBERS I HATE BOMBERS I CANT HIT THEM WHY OH WHY PLEASE SAVE ME AARGGHHH I HATE BOMBERS I HATE BOMBERS I HATE THEM"
Oh dear, those are some strong language, Ok then, Gunners are gunners, they are hard to hit when they are strikers and annoying while they are recons according to most people. Guns give range, making them easier to dodge and shoot enemy attacks and Combo with alchemers, While recons use the method of shooting a gun and hiding, shooting, hiding, etc. Always remember to pick a quick weapon, like the flourish/snarblebarb They can tear down gunners because of their speed, and whereas recons, use a Polaris/Supernova, You can easily find them
Next subject, Bombers. Bombers are a few in Spiral knights, but with great skill and power and can easily make a person ragequit in Lockdown
with a Volatic tempest/Ash Of Agni/ Nitronome etc. Well, the best method for hitting gunners is to carry a sidearm gun, i assure you, it will save most of your problems with bombers, but watch out for bombers carrying swords/sidearm guns! They can eat you up too

Now to our last subject, Recons

Recons: "THESE RECONS ARE TROLLS OMG I CANT SEE THEM THEY JUST KILL ME ANNOYING I KILL THEM ARGH I DIE NOO I HATE RECONS I KILL RECONS AASNJ I HATE RECONS!!!!!!!!!!ONE111" Oh dear, Well anyway, like i said about Gunslinger recons, Use a sidearm gun like polaris to trace them.
Recons might move around, shoot a callahan, hide, shoot, etc. Or come near you and use a flourish/sealed sword to eat your soul :D
I actually admire the skill of recons, and i train to be one, So like i said, Polaris.

It isn't as bad as he's making out. You will get a few messages like 'stop using aa noob' (even if you aren't using it), 'polaris spammer', 'hammer spammer', and some more along the the lines of those, but you won't get a TON of them a game. Unless you get a guy who says one of these things everytime he dies, then the game should only be with a few of these.
Lockdown is fun, and it's rather easy to just ignore these people. Oh no, someone criticized me. The world is going to end.
Oh wait. It isn't.

If you know what's killing you and you can't stop it, it isn't my problem. whining will only waste your time. you'd be surprised how effective a well-timed "don't care" works on people like the ones mentioned above.

Agreed. But when using AT, it is so predictable, it's not even funny. After 2 and a half games of using Hammer with AT, I found out it is probably the stupidest thing in the game to do. Unless you're fighting noobs.

Pure Gunslingers are actually rather common nowadays, like, 2nd to clones. Most of them are really good, but sometimes you will see really bosslike ones switchshooting with shieldcancelling and stuff. I saw that and went "dang!". Twas awesome.

Bombers are pretty underpowered. Unless you are spamming VT, which is no fun, and is just a general nuisance. Or if you are Zeddy, because he is the pro bomber that outdamages Clones using only his nitro.

Recon needs a slight buff. Cloaked Recons still have footprints, which is extremely aggravating for them in snowy maps. They also have paper shields, kinda like using SSB in a Shadow Lair for the first time or something, except they can't take a single hit. Yeah.

So, I only agree partially, most of your stuff is a bit wrong, but yeah, Polaris is annoying. It needs a radius nerf or something, it's a better bomb than the bombs we have atm D: But this is for another rage/rant thread, so let's not discuss nerfing it here.

Perhaps you should replace that with "buy an internet connection which grants you a ping of under 30." because effective dodging is impossible when you are 1, 2 or even 3 seconds behind the server, essentially making you get hit before you see the enemy swing some times, even if you have a good eye. I almost always dodge swings, see myself run out of their radius then bars of damage drop off me when I'm several tiles away. It's even funnier when I get rolled back a few.
If you combine that with swift enemies, or enemies who abuse a certain weapon or game mechanic which can indeed be countered but is still annoying, you get the perfect nerve-grinding game.
I have no idea why do I even play Lockdown, it's always a lagfest which leaves me angry and frustrated, hopelessly yelling in my head, "but I dodged that!".

A good Hammer user does not

A good Hammer user does not use AA on the dash as the actual dash won't hit due to invincibility frames. A good Hammer user uses the dash to get away from counter strikes. I'd know on that one... the Hammer is my signature weapon in PvE and PvP. And it is near impossible to tell if a heavy sword (Hammer, GF, DA, Troika lines) user is using AA on regular swings, 180 degree swings and all that. Unless they're facing dead away from you they can hit you with a swing.

A good Recon does one of 2 things: intimidation via the Death Mark, or assassin. If they go assassin than normally you won't know they're there until they smack/kill you. I have great respect for good Recons as it is actually probably the hardest class to play effectively. And Xai is downright scary as Recon.

My only complaint is when I'm lagging so hard I don't even see myself fall down until after the respawn timer pops up, but then I normally go do something else after that match also.

On the forums I distinctly complain about LD, but I avoid getting angry. In game, its just a game. It's not worth it to put an angry message for 5 seconds because of 200 crowns. I only do that when the enemy team is using full heart pendants when we've got less people. I mean really, when you got more people, you can level the playing field a LITTLE bit.

Polaris needs a... strategic nerf? Not sure how to put it, but the problem with it is the fact that it basically lets strikers bypass the fat bomb penalty they get. Needs a reworking. It's not the weapon itself, its the fact that its yet another lolstriker weapon. So many weapons that are basically made for that class.

I'm a T2 player, no gran's there. Sealed is still a bi', but most people have normal defense. Also, assuming there is an equal chance of your enemy having elemental/shadow defense, hammer is better. Not by a HUGE margin, but by a visible one. Dat dash + pure damage.

It's a honor thingy. Fight on level terms, Bushido way. Though it's also a video game.

You left out support. First off, bomb spam. Nuff said. Second off, you can get the death mask on people so strikers can smack their heads off. You're basically a reverse-guardian.
I just see too many recons that try only to sword, when its got a sword penalty.

I agree with everything about this and honestly, the reason why I use AA is because I have 1 DANG BAR!! So honestly to those who hate peeps using AA, like what Msaad says, LEARN TO DODGE! Cause its a game mechanic and it is vital to those with bad latency. Another thing, those who rage at Polaris users and say that it needs a nerf, really are, I'm gonna say it, stupid. The animations look discouraging to enemies but really if you think about it, its really still the same miniature slow ball that dosen't actually expand, the animations make it look like they do. And all the game system is doing here is increasing the damage and KB as the bullet travels further, so honestly, if you think about it, its actually quite underpowered execpt for the shock. I say this because a Valiance would do the same damage and bullets travel faster and have a constant damage per tile that it travels. Also, slow swords would not be used if it weren't for AA, especially the hammer. Slow swords are basically just big surprise swords, so DEAL WITH IT!

Instead of this 'learn to dodge' how about 'make an Asian/Australian server'? Having 300~500ms ping dodging is nearly impossible, such as confronting Polaris, you get knockbacked and if unfortunate shocked before seeing the buttet explode. For Gran Faust, that sword can literally hit me from almost 8~12 tiles away; yes, literally.

All my fellow mates in this 'lag legion' knows that 'LD' is an abbreviation for 'lag down'. Jokes aside, I do mainly agree with OP. But for Hammer whoever uses it with AA/AT is stupid, it makes the swing totally predictable.

For Polaris, how else will you use a gun besides shooting it?
For bombers, of course they place bombs, what else should they do? Throw them? They're not Demo Gremlins.
For gunners, they use guns and they shoot them, if you have no skills to confront a gunner then use your striker boost and cowardly dash away, it's not a great deal.

ppls offten complain about auto aim.. i understand them, i think auto aim in pvp is stupid it is like auto aim in q3arena;).

but

others use autoaim, so i use it too and i dont blame others..

if someone think polaris is owepowered, why he dont use it too?

edit: i think 3o makes autoaim for joystick and others nonstandart input devices

About that honor thing... Recons kinda epitomize everything dishonorable... They rely on ambushing unaware enemies with burst damage (This is why Recon Hammer works so well), sneaking past people for strategic gain, repeated cheap shots (How else do you catch a striker who is faster than you?), dancing outside of massive team battles while invisible, psychological warfare (If I had 1 crown for every player I scared with my recon mark...), ranged gun combat instead of sword duels, AOE status bombs to cripple anyone who walks close, and just invisibility in general.

Low value when inspected from a Competative perspective.

People just should stop trying to be ''pro'' in it...
This way more people would start variate thair gear instead of saying: NEED TO BE GOOD gogo hammer/toothpick/pulsar ect ect.

Maybe OOO needs to decrease the value of winning...

I'm pretty sure everyone here has been called a "spammer" at least once. I don't know about you guys, but I think everyone has forgotten the true meaning of "spamming" First, lets look at what the dictionary says:

Let's ignore the part about ham for now :3. I'm pretty sure every one is talking about the second definition. Now, if you call someone a hammer/polaris spammer, I assume its because they constantly use their hammer/Polaris. But is it inappropriate behavior? Is it irrelevant to Lockdown? No

Counter Argument: But Papaya! When we say "spammer", we aren't talking about the dictionary definition! Spammers are people who constantly attack with those stupid Hammers and Polarises!

My Argument: Then why aren't people who constantly use the FF called spammers? They are basically swinging and lunging all over the place!
Why aren't gunslingers who use the Alchemer line called spammers?

People use 'spammer' in a derogatory manner because it implies that they just "button mash" blanket attacks and somehow that lets them win.

One game, I kept shock-assassinating someone as recon (I'd appear, shock with hatedriver, then on shock, take advantage of no-invincibility and shoot beyond max ASI until they die) and before he rage quit, he said "Seiran is just a F*NG SPAMMER". What am I supposed to do, shoot and wait 5 seconds between shots? Take turns hitting? Recon shouldn't get into 'fights', and if a recon ever gets into a fight, he's already lost. Either kill or don't fight.

I'm making do just fine with recon in its current form. Ever since I started playing Lockdown, all I wanted to do was find a way to make recon 'work', and I eventually found my answer to it. Only intimidation via deathmark or assassination? Why not fight AND deathmark fluidly? Use a status gun?

Lots of options, but only few people really try them out.

I tend to be pretty full of hate in lockdown. Long day at work --> want to get fun, close games --> end up in a stacked game or being unable to correctly leadshoot/aim (aka lack of skill). As stressful as that sounds, I feel it's a little healthy to get that hate out of the way haha..haha...ha.

What really gets me are the players who constantly complain about 'lag' especially players that hit me from several metres away and then go on to mock me for it (ie spamming /laugh emote and alike).

There are too many arrogant players with inflated egos due to scoring high damages as a result of fighting real laggers or extremely high latency players. All this lag talk by people who are MUCH closer to the server than me (mostly south americans, americans and sometimes europeans who seem to have a better connection to the USA servers than asians) disheartens me and undermines the plight of real laggers like myself. Being an Australian (in excess of 340ms ping on a good day ), it usually saddens me when someone complains about lag when he is able hit me and kills me offscreen with a melee weapon.

Some low ping players have given me tips and tried to rationalize my anger by telling me things like 'I lag and i get a lot of damage, you just need to play better' which is infuriating because you can fix a bad internet connection or a slow pc but you cant decrease server latency. Also, how does one exactly play better when some dude living on the server gets close enough to causes frameskips? 100% of the time i'm attempting futuresight and its very hard to predict someone that has an insane latency advantage over you.

If OOO really wants to stop or merely reduce the amount of complainers then I suggest they add a ping-tracker or some indicator of the country they're playing from. It may cause players to be more humble knowing they are not fighting on a level playing field.

People who cry spam also infuriate me. Crying spam is hypocritical because you are also spamming yourself, given the ability to only carry 2-4 weapons at a time, spamming is really all you can do if some weapons work better than others. If you have a preference for a weapon at any given time or for an opponent, its not spamming its just playing to your strengths.

Another one is the UV complaints. UVs can give you a edge but at the end of the day latency rules all. I've seen Seiran, a guy with little to no UVs but has what i assume to be extremely good latency just go around invisi assassinating everyone with alchemers. This guy is insane to fight as he causes crazy frameskips parsing all that data to my client.

Latency is latency, frame skip is unrelated.

ex:
I have to hit (actually see the bullet land on) tiles that are 1.5-3 tiles ahead (or in terms of time, .5-1 second) ahead of my targets' movements. I miss on my screen in order to make the server think I hit, and I usually have to play at least 2-3 games to get a feel for how far ahead I have to aim. It's nerve racking when I can't find the timing to hit strikers.

Frame skipping, however, seems to be something related to either graphic card or processor. I noticed some people complain about it when I phase in and out with recon shield, so it's probably due to transparency issues since opponent recons can become fully invisible, transparent, and then opaque. That's just my guess though.

Teleporting does have to do with connection though, so sorry if you have to deal with that.

I'd looove to have a way to actually get a numerical ping. When I played a game called GunZ, I used to check ping numbers to figure out how far I'd have to shoot ahead of movements too :3

Personally, I don't care if you use Auto Target. I don't use it, but it's a feature in the game. If you can't beat them, join them. I'm fine with you using a Polaris or a Hammer, I'll do the same if needed. If you can't beat em, join em. Oh... You're spamming FF combos? Oh well. If you can't beat them, join them. Spamming a GF? Hm. If you can't beat them, join them.

Take a guess of what I think.

I still do a reasonable 4k with a good graphics card and 1 bar latency, my only problem is when people start to walk out of the arena, and I'm like &$@/. And when everything goes back to normal, some guy with a charged needle shot lets the charge rip, and I'm just starin' there in shock with my mouth wide open.

If you can't beat them, try something different from them. After all, they have much more experience using their OP gear than you do.

For instance, try using plate armour and venom veiler to tank swords like a baws.

i think ppls miss the true reason, why is lockdown broken.. its cause teams are offten totaly unbalanced, there are leavers and afkers ewerywhere, ppls with 2* gear appear commonly in tier 2 matches, we canot play in same team with friends etc, etc..

so if u wana complain complain to 3o not to us players;)

Actually that thing happens to me with all the weapons in LD, DA, GF, Flourishs, polaris are really anoniying imposible to dodge cuz the bullets hit u when they are several tiles away and actually u avoid them but hit u anyway.. soo it is very frustrating when people abuse of this desfase latency shoting polaris over and over thinking they are doing well but actually is the latency that killing the enemy. the same thing with the hammer, imposible to avoid something when u get hit before the animation and far really far tiles away. To me and i think the rest, complaince come from the frustating latency/desfase that make some weapons anoniying.

And now with the brandwish + autoaim + latency + lag it is worst, it is more anoniying than hammer

Recon is a support role. People try to hard to go solo as recon and take advantage of their own death mark. Plus, anyone can pick it up in the first few seconds of the match, as opposed to things like heart pendants where you get to lower the CE supply so you can have double the health of your more sportsman-like enemies.

People who complain about the hammer typically don't run into it enough to know how to effectively deal with it. Better LD players kill me all the time when I'm using my hammer. It's really just a matter of side-stepping the dash at the right moment and chipping away at the hammerer's health.

Hell, I get yelled at for using my Triglav more often than I do for my hammer - unless you're a pure Skolver clone with nothing but a FF, just accept you're going to piss someone off and roll with it.

I can't see how funny is to be in a match which you can't walk 4 seconds outside heal pad and get huge knockbacks + shock.

I prefer to be a wolver clone, anyway, it is a pleasure to kill noobs with brandish :)

I agree with your argument.
My Learn to dodge sentence is not actually perfect, but there is a way to kill the Polaris spammers. Most of the Polaris spammers use the 3rd bullet, and while they reload, go below the bullets (But if you're in a narrow area, I feel bad for you) and kill them.
Even I know how you feel, I might have gotten a little annoyed in my head, but I don't frustrate in the public. I have like 100-200 ping which actually makes it 2-3 bars, but still when I'm 10 cm away from the person, he can kill me with the GF, otherwise beware of Polaris spammers who use 2 bullets and know how to use it.

@Bigfootm I agree with you. Why not get a hammer, instead of complaining? And why not use auto aim without complaining?

@Megatech I suppose you're new to the forums, the Admins have stated that a person should not use personal attacks against the other. Just stay on topic and debate about it. You may consider me as an enemy in game, but please be respective on forums.

Spam will always happen.

The people who complain about spam thinks spam means "use". You can't do any other combos. How do you spam a gun if all you do is shoot? How do you spam a sword if all you do is swing?

There's no combo patterns, the swings remain the same. All you have is one button to attack and it repeats the same combo so I don't see how calling it "spam" is a valid argument. Some people don't always do full combos, though. They might just do this:

1.Slash
2.Dash
3.Repeat

If spam means perform a full combo then I don't get it. One combo is a combo, nothing else. If you really want these spam things to stop then make a suggestion legitimately formatted convincing Three Rings to make different combos and skills instead of just one slashing method.

These things just tell me that spam means use so if it means use then you're being a hypocrite if you use weapons.

I'm sick of people complaining about spam, I'm just glad that people haven't gotten crazy enough to start saying "BOMB SPAM!!!".

Best class before heart trinkets. Chris was a recon before heart trinkets. I play recon with GF, BTB, Valiance, and Combuster. Vog/Skolver combination. Resistance to 3/5 status bombs. Can go around Polaris. Can kill Hammer-users with or without AA. Can kill Flourish users if I get the jump on them. Proficient with Valiance. More than proficient with swords. Eat Bombers for breakfast. Problem?

Skill. That is all. And Heart Trinkets.

@Xairathan: Are you sure you're not confusing skills with credit card? Besides, you're not considering the fact that a lot of people in Lockdown have latency issues, or have bad graphic card. I am a recon, I have 3-4 bars in EU server, 1-2 in US one. I use half Vog, half Skolver, GF, FF, and Polaris. I only have ASI low on my FF, not trinkets and no other UVs, but I still managed to score over 20k damage as a recon in a 4v4 match (before the infinite matchs came). Just wanted to say that having good gear is not everything, as many people think. I just wanted to share my success too since someone is bragging hard... *looks around* That post was very arrogant, especially coming from a pro like you.

@Everyone else: Like it or not, spamers, noobs and whiners will always be in every game. There will always be people who will spam only Polaris (or only Hammer), there will always be people who will complain about it. I agree with those who complain, but I don't think its worth being like "OMG U R SO N00B U ONLY SPAM POLARIS ...etc" because you can't change anything. And there are even people who keep saying that recons should play like men. I think that's one of the most stupid things I've ever heard in my days in SK. They should acknowledge us for playing the hardest class in the game, even though there aren't many skilled recons out there, but it's probably because the recon class is hard, and you'll easily die when fighting a striker with ASI VHs and triple MAX UVs, unless you have good gear AND skills. Really, UVs are a big help but they are not everything. Aaaand, this was a good thread about those who always complain, cause they are ruining the fun :3
