Which Magnus Line?

I know this has been discussed before, and I know the Magnus isn't the best line, but I need to hear it again.

So, I just decided to make a Magnus for the lols, cause I've been getting more and more into guns ever since I crafted my Polaris, and I found out that the Magnus is in fact a very cute and fun to use gun. I'd like to see more of it. Which line should I go down though? I'm leaning towards the normal damage guns because piercing doesn't do squat in the runs I like doing.

Opinions?

And does the charge animation change at all? Cause I do kind of like falling flat on my butt.

Don't worry, the butt-falling will always be there.

Callahan has stun and piercing while Iron Slug has normal damage. That's about the size of it really. Callahan is great for gremlins, howlitzers and devilites, while Iron Slug is okay against all of those and will also let you interrupt other kinds of turrets.

Callahan is by far the superiour choice for Lockdown as it would do more damage against a skolver than Slug would, if that influences your decision any.

I'd say Slug just for the turret thing. Turrets are its strongest point.

but if you're into guns

If you're into guns, then you'll have far better guns to use against turrets. I vote for Callahan, due to the damage type. Sometimes it works well against fiends. Sniping silkwings with it is great fun. It's not atrocious against Vanaduke.

Derp

@Zeddy
Oh, so the Slug doesn't stun like the rest of the line does? That's kinda derp.
I don't really do Lockdown, as I'm actually quite terrible at the game and have horrid reflexes, so that's not really part of my decision. :p

@Bopp
Yeah, I've got my polaris for pretty much any turret I run into, but I also have a Silversix damage bonus vs Undead +2 combined with my Deadshot Mantle to make short work of Howlitzers, so I think I'm fine in the turret department for now.

Thanks you two, I won't be making the actual decision for a while, cause that's alot of money to raise. xD

CALLAHAN!!!

After I got my callahan I spent weeks to monthes posting in the forum with Callahan!!!! as my subject for my posts. I much prefer it over Iron Slug though Iron Slug looks about 20% cooler. I bought my callahan from the supply depot and rolled asi vh and ctr med on it and expected to sell it for a profit and be done with that... little did I know I would fall in love with the gun, sneak it into my bed and steal kisses. >.> okay maybe I'm over exaggerating but get Callahan then get an Iron Slug for the lols and fun. The best weapon is a big arsenal and taking the time to master even the worst of things.

Go with callahan

While the slug is normal damage, the amount isn't very great, if you truly want a normal damage gun, get a valiance. Callahan is specialized for beast and fiend, but still normal against undead and gremlin, and has a really great stun chance, very useful. And it is one of the few piercing guns, and is has great accuracy if you aim well, and it has a considerable less immobility time than blitz series.
Go with Callahan. I use it so much now that I've gotten a gunning set.

Why does everyone insist upon

Why does everyone insist upon valiance? If you MUST have normal damage, get neutralizer, supernova, or maybe even volcanic pepperbox. Otherwise you're better off using a Driver, Blitz, or the antigua line.

"and it has a considerable less immobility time than blitz series."

Actually, I did some tests on this, and I found the time between pulling the trigger and being able to move again to be identical. At least on the regular attacks.

A vote for Callahan

Callahan is a great choice

With good timings you can actually wipe bunches of Devilites out, while those using Builtz Needle keep getting hit in their faces by office stuff like chairs, binders, circuit boards etc...

Callahan is one of the few

Callahan is one of the few piercing guns in the gunner's arsenal. And if you want a normal damage, go Valiance, not Magnus.

Honestly, the Magnus line is kinda uberly underpowered right now. It does need a serious buff to make it comparable to the Antigua, Valiance, and Polaris lines. Heck, my Alchemer does better work than a Magnus does. But if you absolutely want one for the fun of it, yeah, Callahan.

strange

Heck, my Alchemer does better work than a Magnus does.

But alchemers are some of the most powerful guns in the game.

go for Callahan. With damage

go for Callahan.
With damage maximum the iron slug's charge does NOT reach 400 damage.

@Ramboguy

I have numbers that say otherwise.

At depth 23, Iron Slug's max damage charge should be 446, while Callahan to a weak target does 507. I find the difference to be quite neglectable in regards to the charge. The stun is a different matter.

Callahan inflicts stun, but Iron Slug does not.
