So i ended up crafting a medium CTR autogun and i was suddenly faced with the reality that i might finally have to make a Blitz Needle. I don't know of anyone else that runs without a Blitz/Plague Needle, so it seems that inevitably, i'll be forced to make one.
But before i do, i was curious to see if there are any other guns that are even moderately effective for soloing FSC.
I usually solo Vana with any of the three guns i own: the Silversix, the Nova Driver and the Master Blaster.
I tend to think of the Silversix as being the best of the three for the task, followed by the Nova Driver, but truth be told, they're all equally effective (or ineffective, depending on how you view it). Because of their mobility, i can solo without taking much if any damage. The downside is, that it takes a long, long time to kill Vana. Anywhere between 10-20 minutes.
One gun that i've always been particularly interested in is the Iron Slug. Though i have absolutely no idea if it's any good against Vana and the lack of mobility worries me some. The Biohazard and Hail Driver are two other guns i'm curious about.
So if you've had any kind of luck soloing Vana with a fairly nonstandard gun, please let me know and if possible, include the amount of damage your gun does. (I use my levi for the mask phase, so please include the damage your gun does during the non-mask phase).
My Volcanic Pepperbox does around ~100 for each of the charged shots, of which there are 15. It's honestly not that much slower than Blitz. Pepperbox is also stronger than Blitz against the Royal Jelly and Roarmulus.
I've duoed Vana with just Polaris so honestly any gun should do fine. Callahan would do better than Iron Slug due to piercing damage, but I am never one to ask a man to shy away from The Slug. Just be aware that in addition to reduced mobility, your damage over time is probably lower as well. Magnus is a sniper rifle or a utility interruptor, not a close-quarters dps gun.
Whatever you decide, it should be hard to do it slower than beating him bombs-only, which I've done a couple of times.
