I greatly prefer GF for its power (kills most menders in one combo) and curse
Meanwhile, drop a note in the Suggestions, we do need more shadow weapons in general.

Cheaper? No, but still...
I prefer Acheron for its non-curse charge attack, but if you have curse-resistant equipment, then it should be fine for G-Faust. G-Faust is a heavy hitter, but you also need to invest in ASI a bit/shield cancel if you want to maximize effectiveness.
Acheron, though, also has a crowd-control charge, just like g-faust. So it's mostly the curse problem...

People really overestimate
People really overestimate GF's self-curse chances. It's not THAT often, and all it takes is one weapon slot upgrade or any curse resistant gear and it's a non-issue. I think cursing enemies is WELL worth a tiny risk of cursing yourself, and you don't even have to charge it to cause curse.
So again, the main difference just comes down to speed vs power
