From heavy demo to volcanic -- how much better IS it?

Hey there, Styrka here.

So, I have dusted off my olde bombing gear for FSC recently (My best elemental weapon is an Electron Bomb, which gets the crowd control on Slag Walkers done quite nicely for my teammates) but, while I can get chains of two going, how much faster is MAX charge reduction over Very High?

I feel as though not being able to dispense bombs fast enough makes bombing really hard to beginners, so I ask now if the pay off is enough; Is MAX charge reduction with very high flame protection enough incentive to get to 5 star bombing gear, or are there other, better alternatives -- Like Chaos, just to play the other, non bombing set that gets you max charge time.

Food for thought.

Bombing Guide

The Bombing Guide has bomb charge times, in milliseconds, for all bombs at all levels of CTR. That should help you.

Yeah, but what does it MEAN?

I've looked at the charts, Bopp, but I can't quite visualize what they mean for application.

What is 1.225 seconds against a greaver swarm?

What about 2.25 seconds for me to drop a bomb against a bunch of devilites before I can shield again?

I am looking more for actual changes in the game it makes, as data doesn't help me personally very much.
Y'know what I'm saying? I've tried counting to 1.2 in game to see what it's like, but unless I actually have that charge time, I can't really tell.

okay

I can understand what you're saying, but I don't have a good answer, beyond the data. Someone else will. Cheers.

Sometimes I haze bomb with full Bombtastic just because I can.

I can tell you that every level of CTR, even just a low one, is very noticable. It helps an awful lot when you're new to it, but lately I've been bombing without any CTR boost at all and just not giving a dang about it. As for devilites, the trick is to run until they've thrown a projectile at you and missed, and then drop your bomb. Shielding is not included in the strategy of successful devilite bombing. Greavers, on the other hand...

Well, I just bring Triglav for greavers.

At the moment, Chaos is a very good choice for bombing. You could wear one piece of Chaos and the other Volcanic. I started out with Mad/Volcanic but was still kinda bad at FSC so I made a second Volcanic in the end for more fire resistance. It helped me die a lot less and learn the ropes until I could finally stop catching fire everywhere.

Why would you ever get chaos for bombing, though? If you are truly a pure bomber, isn't Mad Bomber the best in terms of reckless damage output, minus Chaos' curse penalty with a sweet mohawk? Do you mean if I feel like gunning or swording too, because that makes sense I guess.

Thanks,

Chaos recently received a buff where it gives exactly as much damage and charge time bonus as Mad Bomber does, but for all weapons. Unless you hate curse and sidearms with a passion, Chaos is pretty much objectively better than Mad is.

You could always go Mad Bomber and await OOO balancing it again. Craft an Iron Slug while you're at it.

For a long while, I was actually considering the Iron Slug...! Ha ha ha, flinching everything sounded practical until I realized you need something on the order of max damage with a group of three and up to even have a chance at shutting up those turrets.

And yes, I suppose I could roll those dice, but what could they do to buff mad bomber? Max damage boost?

Unlikely.

In all honesty, I'd love to see a new bomber set sometime, as Mercurial demo doesn't seem all that great to me; You can move faster, but you just lost 4 CTR points unless you're willing to get trinkets of UV's involved. So, it's sounding like there's volcanic demo suits in my future in regards to FSC runs unless I missed anything.

That's about the size of it. It gets worse when you realise that Supernova bullets have just as much damage as Iron Slug and at least as much interruption.

Herpa-derp. Well, I am

Herpa-derp. Well, I am learning everyday I suppose......

Anyways, thanks a bunch for the info, I imagine it shall make my vortex-combo-chaining-not-catching-on-fire-Firestorm-Citadel-madness all the merrier.

lawl.

"Craft an Iron Slug while you're at it."

lolllll. And Styrka with respect to your specific situation, wouldn't the non bomb CTR from chaos be useful for comboing with your own vortex bomb?

@Aiden

I have considered that, and, with my most common vortex abuse being the Catalyzer charge en mass, it is basically no faster and only a little stronger with the chaos gear. Rather, when I get around to 40 almirian seals, I can unleash fang of vog charges on hapless vortexed foes with little chance of being singed.
