It seems like every sword except cutters hits in an area larger than it looks they should, but for cutter it's pretty narrow.
See? Not all my suggestions are horrible nerfs to everything.

Last I tried a Flourish, landing a combo consistently just wasn't happening. Not really sure what you're saying is accurate, especially after my experiences with Greaver swarms.
It could use slightly less knockback though.
I'm not a huge fan of the idea at all because the cutter is a weapon that performs 10 hits. As bad as the range is it makes up for it with its speed and multiple hits. I can see why u want this but then it would go against the purpose of it.
Sorry but -1 for me.
Think to yourself, do each of these 10 shots do the same as flourish? even then, it would be hard to hit the enemy with ALL the 10 shots, because the enemy can attack you before you do so, which would only make like 3-4 hits, but in some occasions for greavers, devilites, etc. it can be useful. And i still think it should have Versatile damage and balanced compared to flourish.
absolutely not. normal damage is fine. don't make hypster wapons unusable on certain stages. I really love my WHB dealing normal damage, because I can kill slimes and (most of all) devilites. same with DVS. normal damage is fine. it would nerf on certain enemies that you need to weaken (i.e.: devilites) and strengthen on enemies that have tactics that do not fit with it (ex: gremlins dodge even sword attacks, you know? while devilites with sword can just jump away. I think I remember correctly.). having general damage + family bonus/ poison chance makes them good for almost all situations. just because they deal decent damage.
on topic, I agree. 120° looks fine to me. but I think now it's 100-90.
This is also the case with Brandishes, I'd say. It's not like they're underpowered because of that though... The strength of the Brandishes lies in the charge, but also in the immense power of the combo. Up the combo range, down the power. That'd be cool.
Back on topic, I guess, sure!
Just to add to the specialization discussion, here's the damage numbers of Wild Hunting Blade on D23.
Versus beasts:
Hits: 140
Ghost hits: 72
Charge hits: 180
Total combo damage: 1100 (25% stronger than vs other targets)
Total charge damage: 1260
Versus others:
Hits: 107
Ghost hits: 61
Charge hits: 148
Total combo damage: 881
Total charge damage: 1045
These damage numbers exactly correspond to those of Valiance, Argent Peacemaker, and Calllahan. Valiance don't have a specialised variance, but I'm pretty sure its real damage is 61 to 67 higher based on looking at other damage values.
Pure piercing Wild Hunting Blade:
Versus beasts:
Hits: 201 (extrapolated number, should be accurate)
Ghost hits: 130
Charge hits: 241
Total combo damage: 1695 (54% stronger than normal WHB vs Beasts, 92% stronger than normal WHB in general)
Total charge damage: 1855
Versus fiends:
Hits: 168-174 (extrapolated number, hard to determine accurately)
Ghost hits: 110
Charge hits: 209
Total combo damage: 1431-1455 (30-32% stronger than normal WHB vs Beasts, 92% stronger than normal WHB in general)
Total charge damage: 1595
Versus gremlins and undead:
Just like current WHB
Versus slimes and constructs:
Hits: 25-30 (extrapolated number, very hard to determine accurately)
Ghost hits: 21
Charge hits: 35
Total combo damage: 240-260 (76-78% weaker than normal WHB in general)
Total charge damage: 280
It's fine the way it is. If u make it just one damage type it would not be used at all unlike now where u can fight everything.
I honestly have no idea what a cutter's hitbox is (I'm guessing either standard brandish or brandish 3rd hit?), so I can't really give much input, but I don't really feel like this weapon was intended to hit more than two targets. It's okay to make that process easier, but if this gets a first-flourish-hit area, it'd be kinda crazily powerful.
Cutter is so useless, I don't think it'll be the next OP weapon by getting a 160 degree slash instead of its current pathetic 45 degree slash.
Even if it came out more useful than FF, FF is still better in LD, and it's a lot easier to die when spamming a cutter than a FF.

My beloved Wild Hunting Blade. :( If this happened I might start playing again.
I fully agree with you Zeddy, hipster weapons like cutter need to be buffed, DVS should deal Shadow Damage and WHB should be piercing, because a flourish can do higher damage to beasts compared to WHB. Also, we need more shadow and piercing weapons.
