So I know OOO has been pretty secretive about this. I mean, half a year is a pretty big range of time, or maybe they just hadn't developed it yet to really give us enough details. Anyway, I was just wondering how everyone feels about this development. Will it mess up game balance, or just help in fight monsters? Are they obtainable only to give p2p players another advantage other when they buy special sprites? Also, it wasn't exactly clear on whether there would only be the 3 basic battle sprites previewed, or if there would be a bigger variety you could obtain somehow. I just want to see what some more experienced players think about this huge revamp.

Personally, I think that a pretty good way to circulate more crowns in the auction house because it may end up making materials of 1 or 2 stars actually worth something, but I'm still unsure of battle sprites' lasting effects. It would be fun to see them around, but would sure make lockdown matches crazy.

If they add the sprites just like that, then the shift of balance is obvious. Players would gain more power without any drawback or counter on the monsters' side. BUT there's hope with dust bunnies and such.

Well, to answer one of your

Well, to answer one of your questions, there *sorta* will be more varieties of sprites. The three previewed were described as a possible outcome of each of the three sprite types. Following different paths will result in different appearances for Sprites.

As for how I feel about it, considering the fact that it's been in development for about half a year, as you said, I'm sure it'll be fairly balanced. I haven't had any major problems with any other changes OOO has implemented into the game. So I've got a degree of faith that this change will be no different.

I just wish we could get more details as to how the system works.

Not that these questions aren't on a lot of players' minds, but it's really pointless speculating about balance until we see how they're actually implemented. A few points: they didn't say 'half a year,' they said, 'the first half of the year,' which most people took to mean June-ish, but with the new mob teasers already starting to roll out, who knows. We do have the anniversary coming up in just a few weeks... On the pay question, no, Nick already said that your sprite will be attainable via a regular ol' mission, as they're meant to be integral to the game.

@Little-Juances Lol, I'm

@Little-Juances Lol, I'm looking forward to dust bunnies too :).

@Sykocaster I think it'd be kinda nice if the system was a little more developed before they advertised it. It definitely reassures me that no other changes had drastic effects for every player, and I hope that you're right about this following that pattern. It would also be a nice thing to shoot for in the long run. The three released previews look pretty cool already. Also, I don't really mean that it's been in development for half a year, just that they said that it would be released within the first half of the year as narfel said.

@Narfle, I think that the anniversary might slow down the project a little too, though they may just implement revamped monsters or missions from previous years. I also realized that some could be obtained through missions, just that such a big development could possibly result in a number also being put into real purchases as well. I hope for that not to happen, but I'm not sure I can accept such a solid no.

Well you see

Well you see when battle sprites first come out their will be the 3 starters we know about but they are planning on adding more sprites later and you will be able to obtain each and every sprite somehow. Nick's comments on one of the other forum threads tells us so.

Nick said, "When other sprites are released in the future, they will not be 'starter sprites.' There will be other means of acquiring them, most likely after players have first completed the missions that grant you the starter sprites."

Hope that helps some.
