More people go for the bio hazard than the neutralizer even though the neutealizer does more damage and does the same amount of damage to every enemy. Why?
Catalyzer line
Poison from biohazar could also increase your damage AND weaken the enemy AND nullify healers.
Neutralizer has nothing
nullify healers
You can't heal something that has just been in the middle of almost a dozen explosions, since it will be dead. If healers are a problem then perhaps you should consider using more dakka instead.
Catalyzer line is good for "mindless" foes, which come in hordes and don't mind dodging. They are not fast either. All the slimes, zombies, retrodes and scuttlebots can be considered mındless.
Biohazard is strong against: Slimes, retrodes, scuttlebots.
Biohazard is stronger against: Slimes
+Poison
Neutralizer is strong against: All of those foes
Neutralizer is stronger against: All of those foes except slimes.
Poison effects
Gremlin menders: The only place that is hard to kill gremlin menders is where there are hordes of gremlins, which are obviously Deconstruction Zones. Since gremlins are fast and can dodge, Biohazard is not really great against them. A Venom Veiler will do better at disabling menders.
Silkwings: They are much less dangerous than gremlin menders. I managed to kill a giant lichen colony that is healed by 4 silkwings, by only alch-switching.
So, the reason must be the fact that Biohazard looks much better at tooltip.
Because green is much more badass and poison is the best status and I want all my weapons to inflict it.
I got mine because I didn't pay enough attention to the tooltips to notice that the Neutralizer does more damage in general. The bar system is kind of eh.
Biohazard is strong against: Constructs, beasts
Biohazard is stronger against: Slimes, gremlins
+Poison
Neutralizer is strong against: everything
Neutralizer is stronger against: nothing
Just like most normal weapons in the game, there's not much point to neutralizer unless you really MUST fight vanaduke without the benefit of blitz needle. "All around" weapons aren't necessary because you will always have a minimum of two weapons slots. At least sudaruska/Triglav have unique charge attacks that function differently from their elemental/shadow counterparts.
As for gremlin menders, all it takes is two charge shots and a detonator to kill any Darkfang Mender. They have no shield (you'll kill them before their barrier comes up) and they tend to dodge right into your charge shots. Besides that, Biohazard will ALWAYS be better against gremlins than neutralizer no matter what.
The Neutralizer only does more damage to Undead and Fiends. Biohazard does more damage against Gremlins and Slimes, and does the same damage to Constructs and Beasts; and it poisons.
@Bluencool, Why would you say the Neutralizer is better than the Biohazard against Gremlins?
@Batabii, Neutralizer is stronger than Biohazard against undead and fiends, and zombies are some of the easiest things to use Catalyzers on.
Neutralizer's charge is stronger than Biohazard's. So much so that it's almost as strong as Biohazard against slimes. You mostly want Biohazard because of the regular shots.
For pure gunners,
Biohazard is supercool gun in RJP.
Neutralizer is good in fsc but there are better guns for that like alchemer and blitz needle.
Btw for gremlim dodgers, you just has to do 1 regular shot to bait them to dodge and then you can do whatever you want to them because they have cooldown for dodging.
i personally went neutralizer because it A) looks cooler imo and B) can be used against vana for a troll run.
either way the catalyzer isnt a crazy DPS weapon. IMO, its mostly just a novelty weapon to use while soloing with chaos on. if you want DPS, alchemers/valiance swap will do better.
I carefully read my post and could not find any sentence about Neutralizer being better than Biohazard against gremlins. I just say that Catalyzer line is overall not good for gremlins. Correct me if I am wrong.
@Batabii
...All the slimes, zombies, retrodes and scuttlebots can be considered mındless.
Biohazard is strong against: Slimes, retrodes, scuttlebots.
Biohazard is stronger than Neutralizer against: Slimes
+Poison
Neutralizer is strong against: All of those foes I wrote here
Neutralizer is stronger than Biohazard against: All of those foes I wrote here except slimes
I am talking about specific monster types, not families.
If only Biohazard existed, there would be suggestions for an elemental counterpart since Catalyzer line perfectly fits zombies and some constructs. So we got Neutralizer for that.
No thing is necessary if there are viable alternatives. "All-rounders" are useful for bringing some of the most specialised tools, like any combination of Poison bomb, Stun bomb, Vortex bomb, etc. that takes up all but one slot- not a very farfetched thing for a 2-weapon player.
I can get all Freudian and imagine peops following wrong trains of thought that are so obviously wrong and stupid, or I can just apply Ockham's Razor and assume that what I think makes the most sense, rather than the least, is probably my best guess as to what other peops are thinking. :P I prefer the option that doesn't make me look analytical-retentive.
I prioritise my green Cat over my purple one despite liking both colours equally (but more together than apart!) because I love poison and am not very fond of the Cutter or the PvP games required for the Toxic Needler. MOAR DAMAGE!!! is nice but there are many sources of that, and few of Poison, at least for DPS weapons.
I needed an anti-slime gun, but Blackhawk isn't that good on them and Shadow Driver is too mainstream -and especially redundant since I already had a Firo and Volt Drivers. So I got a Virulent Catalyzer.
People mindlessly go for special damage because special damage is more better damage supposedly and that's super important.
