I've always liked really high damage numbers. I think the Blitz has the strongest charged attack, but it's only good for one enemy. So... anyone got any advice what goes good with a DA?

The complement of the Sealed

The complement of the Sealed Sword line is the Brandish line. So, Acheron.

what kind of weapon?

What kind of weapon do you want --- sword, gun, or bomb? If it's a sword or gun, then you should get either piercing or shadow, so that you have complementary damage types. See my detailed sword guide for more information. Bombs are more idiosyncratic; consider a crowd-control bomb such as Voltaic Tempest or Graviton Vortex.

if ure a pure swordsman, a flourish would make an excellent companion. you can go anywhere with just DA and FF for example.

What be ye talking about?

I can needle Slags, all Fiends except Greavers, all Beasts, and all Gremlins with my two trusty Needles.
Consider the Volcanic Pepperbox for an all around Needle-like weapon. You will not be disappointed.

What I meant was that the Blitz often leaves me too vulnerable before I can recover after an attack. With fiends, I end up really just wanting to use my DA. Not to mention, those wolvers will teleport before I can get a good shot in unless I'm patient, so I end up using a DA there too.

I was thinking of a good gun, because hybrids have more of a situational advantage. Plus, I main with my DA everywhere, so switching to use another sword doesn't make sense to me.

I might change my mind about my blitz if I can get a asi uv on it, but I'm not so sure how significant the improvement will be.

You are experiencing a PICNIC ERROR!

I would say Argent Piece Maker or Stentenza, except that if you are thinking FSC, then you'd have either another elemental weapon or a shadow weapon. Also, this won't be a too well rounded loadout.

What about Magnus? I use a Callahan, and I love it. Valiance is also a good pick if you want mobility.

For a gun to complement an

For a gun to complement an Elemental sword whose charge attack has reach like a gun...

That Magnus line is the only other Pierce option, but its weaknesses are kinda similar to those of the Needler. IMO it feels much easier to hit with, but yeah, the Blaster makes a fine substitute most of the time. If you find that you like the Magnus, though, party members might greatly enjoy the way it serves Wolvers and Gremlins up on a metaphorical silver platter, by knocking them all the way into their "getting up off the ground" animations. I don't know whether the Iron Slug has the same knockdown ability as the Callahan, though.

For Shadow damage, the Alchemer and Jelly gun are both popular. If patience is the main thing pushing you away from the Needler, then the Alchemer is probably better than the Jelly gun since it's probably gonna kill things faster. OTOH, the Jelly gun is much better for impatience out of combat and offers a more interesting contrast against your Jelly sword. I also highly recommend the Toxic Catalyser line because it's perfect when Gremlin Menders are involved; the charge attack lets you do all your damage without giving time for healers to fight your efforts, and when that's not a convenient option the Poison is very gratifying. When the green bubbles start appearing and all nearby healers converge to viciously heal their victim to death, you can practice your mustache-twirling evil laugh.

My favourite Normal gun so far is the Pepperbox, but it looks like that's not what you're looking for since it's actually MORE timing-sensitive than its Pierce counterpart. Blaster is flexible, safe, generally effective and the recipes are given to us for mission completion, and is the only gun that offers knockback on-demand without a minimum range or need to prepare a charge attack. For this reason it's probably really nice to have for a dedicated "pure" gunner, but since it's a lot faster than the Jelly sword, that knock might come in handy in your case too. The Normal Pulsegun offers incredible knockback, but it's mostly offensive rather than defensive due to the minimum range.
