I was on the 8-2 mission "The Rotting Metropolis" and wandered into some spikes at the end of the mission. I lost my last health bar and was poisoned. However, I did not die. Here's the screenshot:

Hope you can fix this or tell me if this is the way it's supposed to be :/

It's likely that you have the

It's likely that you have the minimum amount of health possible, but with how the new UI is you can't distinguish it from no health at all. If you feel that this is a bug then press F2 in-game to report it.

ugh, I hope this isn't a floating point issue

Might be one of the common floating point errors. Like you "should" be dead, but due to the way floating point math works, you have like an infinitely small number above 0 of hp left due to arithmetic underflow causing subnormal values. Ever tried dividing 1 by 3 and get an infinitely long decimal? Yeah, try representing that in limited space.

This bug applies to monsters as well.

Same thing happened to me...

This has happened to me twice! I was about to report this here on the forums then I found this thread :O

First time it happened was in the Royal Jelly Palace.

The next day it happened to me again, also in the Royal Jelly Palace.

It must be a stranger hat thing, haha :D

HP stored high res

HP has higher resolution than for what display allows from what it seems. If anything, this is a feature, as it's more accurate than what the HP bars would show before. See my comment above for speculation on why it's hitting 0% specifically.

Rounding

You don't have 0% HP, you have a teeny tiny bit above 0%, that can not be represent as above 0%, because of rounding.

We have known for a long time

We have known for a long time now that a bar of health does not equal "one". I remember somebody saying once that a bar is equal to 40.

Using Bedtimebear as an example, assuming 40 is the actual correct number (which I make no guarantees it is, just a number I remember hearing ages ago) his max HP is 680. To be at 0% he'd have to be under 6-7HP (6.8 actually, but again there's rounding). The percentage obviously rounds down as rounding up would be completely misleading and impractical.

As for why it happens, I believe it is the last stand effect. It used to be that the last stand thing would drop you down to a half bar, which just meant it was somewhere between 0 and half a bar. Now you can see how close you actually are to dying due to the health bar being more accurate.

That happend to me once

I don't have a screen shot, but I was in the Dark City with my brother, when I noticed that a recent hit I took knocked me down to 0%, yet I was still alive. What!?

I fortunately did not die :)
