I used to play Spiral Knights on Windows 7 (vista) happily. However, as soon as I upgraded my computer to Windows 8 the game wouldn't load. I tried and tried but the following message appeared:
"We were unable to initialize the game's graphical display. Please make the following steps to ensure compatibility..."
So I went onto the technical issues forum and tried everything that was said. I installed the latest java, uninstalled Spiral Knights and re-installed it but it came to no success. I figured that it might be the requirements I lacked but my system looks like it meets the minimum requirements. Here they are:

-Windows 8 operating system
-Latest Java
-3.61GB free memory
-Driver date: 26/07/2012
-Name: Intel(R) Q45/Q43 Express Chipset (Microsoft
-Display: 1280x1024 (32bit) (64Hz)
-Version: 8.15.10.2702

I was quite unsure if it DOES meet the minimum requirements or not. If you can verify it I'd be very pleased

You only changed the operating system but didn't update the drivers did you?

Unfortunately Intel has discontinued driver update support for the 4 series Express Chipset Graphics in Windows 8. Only the default drivers provided by Windows are available and they lack the necessary components to run Spiral Knights.

If you wish to play Spiral Knights again on your computer you will need to revert back to Windows 7 or purchase a current graphics card to upgrade your computer. A list of graphics devices that won't run Spiral Knights in Windows 8 can be found on the wiki.
