So...
The Pho? Wut are these shenanigans!

Minor difference between 5* minor and strongest poisons (<10 damage) (The * power of a weapon may affect poison, need a Toxic Vaporizer to check)
Plague Needle normal attack poison is less effective...
Vile Striker normal attack poison has same potency as Plague Needle Charge attack
Single damage weapons get [crappy] bonuses while split damage weapons get significantly more... Antigua update!@#@!#!

Halp me! T.T

Poison reduces defence. Since split weapons are affected by two defences, it gets a bigger boost from two defences being lowered. Plague Needle's normal attack probably only does moderate poison instead of strong. Many weapons have a weaker status on the regular attack instead of the charge. Fang of Vog, for example. Which depth are these numbers from? I can reveal that, at depth 24, poison should be the most effective for nornal damage r weapons that do a bit less than 131. Not as effective as split damage weapons, but still pretty effective.

The most effect you can get out of poison is by using a split damage weapon that does a bit less than 262 against a neutral target. Multihits are good also. Combine with Deadly Shard Bomb.

I have tried toxic vaporizer and venom veiler on T3 sandbags. There is a difference, but it was incredibly small. We're talking 1 damage point here. Minor poison seems to reduce defence by about 15% while strong poison reduces about 20%. For some reason, moderate poison is closer to minor than strong.

Hello Zeddy

This was done in Guild Training Hall T3

Poison appears to help most on Neutral-type damage, then Strong, then Weak damage.
A trend that I have realised is that Pure-Special weapons get the least amount of bonus damage from Poison, Pure-Normal weapons get the next lowest bonus, Split-damage weapons get the highest bonus which is explained by "two defences being lowered." Mhmm... Enemies have more Specialised defence than Normal defence.

Thanks for clearing up the Toxic Vaporizer vs. Venom Veiler thing.

EDIT:
okay so I added the percentage increases for the weapons I tested... numbers are all over the place...
I also changed a section of my spreadsheet cuz it didn't make sense to not include the damage increase of Strong poison.

I'm still confused

Why does DA with more damage value deals less bonus damage than Voltedge or Fang of Vog?
Why does Neutralizer get more bonus damage than Triglav or LHB?

(hindsight: should've checked Dark Retribution)
EDIT: Dark Retribution has same numbers as Plague Needle... dat copy-paste action.

A thread in which I research defence. Let me answer some questions real quick:

Why does DA with more damage value deals less bonus damage than Voltedge or Fang of Vog?

DA does a huge amount of damage, and as such each part of it only gets the standard 15% decrease in defence. Fang of Vog, well...

Why does Neutralizer get more bonus damage than Triglav or LHB?
I'm assuming you must mean the Neutralizer's regular attack. This attack exists under what I call "the treshold". The treshold is the amount of defence a monster has. At depth 23, Guild Training Hall, this amount is around 122 for neutral damage. Right under the treshold, defence is up to 33% more effective than usual. The further down you go, the more the effect of defence diminishes. This is why poison gives a greater boost to weapons right below the treshold than to weapons above it.

Resistant types are so far below the treshold that the diminishment means that weapons get a fairly insignificant amount of boost.

What is LHB?

LionHeart Blade!

good info here Qwez

Since we're on the topic of poison....

I've always wondered if being poisoned affected the tick damage of fire?

Hmm... that damage Threshold thing is interesting, and those double defences make sense with the poison data I was getting with that poison bonus damage comparison that I removed (split damage weapons got a factor of 2/4 more bonus damage except for a weird outlier >.<).

mmm... that's pretty hard to test Blueflood (because I'm solo .-.), not really sure... Well I know that I could find someone with an Ash of Agni, get on his/her team in LD, find a willing guinea pig... (or a fire trap)
EDIT: derp... GTH time

(I was derping around for the past couple days playing LD, running FSC, 'n stuff, not doing anything constructive)

EDIT2: In Guild Training Hall, Ionised Salt Bomb shock increased from 22 shock to 23 with Plague Needle.

Poison does not reduce status resists and as such fire ticks are unaffected. I will check it if affects shock ticks.
