I hope I'm posting in the right section here, this seems technical enough. I kinda had to put my foot down minutes ago and ragequit one of my raids because for the past 3 or 4 days, lag on the servers seems UNBEARABLE. To be clear, this isn't FPS issues, and it isn't those memory leaks that seemed to have snuck in with the compound updates (though an answer to why SK is plowing >1.4GB of RAM afterwards would be nice) This seems to be a more universal, server side lag, maybe associated with the US West coast servers, most my guildies are on the west coast too.
Examples?
-A fistful of people I know are having their connection drop dead for no apparent reason within 15 min or less of logging in (usually from previous disconnections)
-I did a vanaduke run minutes ago and quit after the 2nd floor because I had died 3 separate times due to lag issues, and my last 8+ solo runs before that I'd never even come close to dying once across all 4 floors, let alone 2.
-When running group instances, the entire party will simultaneously lag spike, often holding still for 5 seconds plus in perfect unison. Pretty bad when someone asks "you guys just get that lag spike?" and everyone says "Yea!" all at once.
-When lag spikes occur, I notice other net-bound applications running simultaneously run just fine, Skype calls, Pandora radio, the works.
Combined with the fact that spiral knights already handles lag in an outrageously screwy manner, and not just being an action MMO type deal, but more of a "I'm holding still with my shield and have not given control input for 5 secs and magically I teleport into fire 15 in-game feet away 2 seconds later" type screwy manner, this makes me have to put a halt on playing for a while.
Anyone got ideas as to what could be bogging down the servers or anything I could do on my end to mend this some? Outrageously high traffic for birthday celebration? Server problems related to that latest update? Toxoils got into the server room? At this point just knowing what's up would give me some darned peace here. Thanks. ~WCCC
EDIT: Almost forgot to mention for reference here, I'm running 300 MB/s net at full bars, not sure if the fact I'm receiving it wirelessly or anything could be related, but our router is pretty top-of-the-line and our net plan is fairly competent for not having outages literally ever. (Yay, I found the edit... Tab? Buttons are good I hear, all the cool kids are doing it)
To make your journey of pain shorter:
Neither OOO, nor SEGA is going to investigate their crappy servers, unless you pay them every month at leas 1000$.
I know it's harsh, but that's how SK works. You are ignored until bazillion people have the same problem as yours, then OOO will do a move. But it if it's only a mere 1-500 people, you will be burned and told by the forumers that the problem is with you, not with the server, which is completely wrong in some cases "Like this one here."
Sorry.
