Questions:
1) Can I unbind an item that is already level 10?
2) If so, would I be able to upgrade it even though it will not be bound?
3) If so, once upgraded will it go back to being bound or would it remain unbound?

However, let's apply this to 2-3* crafting:
1. You can unbind anything except items which cannot be 'dropped, sold, or traded'.
2. As long as upgrading it doesn't need heat (eg. crafting 3*s can be done with unheated 2* items), you can upgrade unbound items.
3. If it wasn't bound before the upgrade, it won't be after it.
However, since all heat is lost on unbinding, you can't unbind a 3* and turn it into an unbound 4*, as the 4* needs heat.
