Title. I want it mostly for LD, but I'm thinking it could do well in PvE as well. I used a FoV once, but I used arrow keys back then so I threw it in my junk container. (Translated: Vatel) About LD, I am a Recon, not a striker. I foresee a wave of Strikers invading this thread saying go striker, but whatever.
About my loadout for pretty much everywhere, I use Black Kat and Snarby coat with no trinkets. I don't really focus on a certain role such as Swordsman, Demo or gunslinger, so just you know that.

Before you go to the part where you tell me Recon is bad for swording, let me tell you a guildie of mine is or was recently on the top 10 list. And they are a Recon swordie.

I know UVspamming might cost me much, but I am prepared. *pokes alt*

recon isn't a viable class for many situations in lockdown
being on the top 10 doesn't mean they did well, just that they played lots

as for the FoV:
Brandishes are far better for the purpose: they're faster and deal more damage without any asi, and the fire chance isn't worth it.

The reasoning behind this idea is that you want to use Fang of Vog's regular attacks (not charge attacks) to inflict fire on your enemies? That seems like fun, but I don't have a good sense of whether the fire chance is large enough to make it worth your time, and I hope you're aware that Fang of Vog swings more slowly than Brandishes. Have you considered Magma Driver?

A FoV is slow enough as it is, putting the recon ASI debuff on it will make it pretty terrible and probably as slow as a Sealed. Of course, with a UV, it should become fast enough to be usable, I guess. I don't see any reason to throw cash on an ASI FoV when you could do the same with a Sealed Sword.

Having a high rating in LD is not about skill, it's about activity.

You are experiencing a PICNIC ERROR!

Do it!

As a recon, I love appearing out of no wear and catching someone on fire. The charge will virtually ALWAYS catch things on fire and it's a good defensive tactic. (I recommend taking fire resist, though) A good thing about fire is that it's so rare that people chose to resist it.

Another plus is that you can catch yourself of fire when frozen. You'll become temporarily immune to freeze as well!

Remembers the time he surprise killed a bomber who thought he had me freeze locked for good.

RECON!

Recon is fun! The death mark is extremely helpful and, you could always avoid activating the death mark for added stealth.
I remember last time, I paired up with a recon bomber, and used blast bombs to CHASE a striker. He died. :3

Hehe, don't get me wrong, I am not (that) new to Recon, I just want a nice arsenal for the role. As for the guildie... they score around 30k per match and "practice" with proto armor and helm on. And I am sure their team is not made of status demos the whole time, really.
