COOLDOWNS! Perfect way to balance some OP weapons, or make charge attacks more meaningful

Dash has a cooldown! So cooldowns are in fact in this game + we know that the devs are capable of it!

They could probably have it added to certain charge attacks.

Take any weapon that is considered overpowered by its charge attack, and place a short cooldown on charging it.

Personally, what I would do, is make charge attacks not a necessity to certain weapons. Chaining charge attacks with brandishes etc is something that doesn't require much skill as opposed to normal attacks with many weapons, but it just makes sense to chain charge attacks since charge attacks are powerful enough + you are only in the fray for a moment. Sword users should up in their faces using normal attacks more.

Instead, I would place a universal one, two, or three minute cooldown on ALL charge attacks except for bombs (bombs are completely unaffected), and buff all charge attack damage accordingly (brandishes won't receive much, Blitz Needle won't receive much, heavy swords will receive a lot, Calibur / FoV will receive a fair amount, Gran Faust should receive a bunch imo, etc etc etc)

People will dislike this idea since it's new and anything that is new is shunned, but think of it. Weaving normal attacks requires more skill + how fun it would be to launch a charge attack that was absolutely meaningful. "Oh, they're already meaningful" Oh, you're boring. 100% damage increase to initial hits / some explosions =/= exhilirating by any means. Plus normal attacks take more skill.

Other than for Brandishes and Driver. What is the point of this?

Do you realize how few weapons people actually charge with?

This needs to be re-thought.

This needs to be re-thought. How about a shorter cool down, like 20 seconds on average and instead simply requires you to hold down left click for maybe a second and a half to show you want to use your charge, then release.
For the catalizer this would be notably shorter, 2, maybe 4 seconds. Charge time reductions for the catalizer seeing how they will be kinda useless now could be replaced with shot speed or blast size.
All charge time reductions will be replaced with "cool down reductions".
Bombs will have roughly 10 seconds this means going pure bomber will be more possible as you can spam a bunch of bombs and not need to bring a valiance or super nova in case you run into some turrets.

You are experiencing a PICNIC ERROR!

A few things should not get cooldowns because their mechanics use charge attacks or their charge attacks already have some big drawback: Catalyzers, all bombs, Fang of Vog, and Gran Faust/Faust.

However, some things are totally OP due to their charge attacks. I do agree that these should get about 10 second cool downs.

Anyways, people will stick to Flourishes, Antiguas, Hammers and Polarises since the selling point of most weapons were just made largely pointless.

have sense put cooldown in some powerful charges
but cooldown, on this game, needs to be really low, like 5-10 seconds

try put somekind of cooldown will nerf the CTR and will need buff some charged attacks

The only weapons that the charges are used a lot on are Brandishes, Alchemers, Catalyzers, FoV, and bombs. Bombs and Catalyzers as you said would be uneffected due to their charges being a feature of the item itself. FoV is not used much, so it isn't even really considered in this. Which leaves just Brandishes and Alchemers.

It sounds like what you are saying is that you want Brandishes and Alchemers nerfed, which it would be easier to just come out and say. I actually agree that the damage on the Brandish charges should be lowered, although it is incredibly amusing to kill Gremlins with a Combuster charge. Alchemers, and pretty much every other charge attack, should be left alone. Guns are already weaker in general than swords, and most charge attacks aren't worth bothering with.

Do not agree with cooldown on charge attacks.

The charge time is the cooldown. Otherwise it would be like bombs in early-beta.
