edit july 12th, 2014:
why not make large hearts overheal instead of wasting potential health?

edit july 6th, 2014:
tl;dr:

  • health pills give you overheal.
  • cannot overheal past one overhealed health pill

    You are experiencing a PICNIC ERROR!

    I like it! If this gets in, we can finally have gold HP and I won't feel so bad for myself when I accidentally hit the pill key. xD

    Also, if this gets included, could we have something like this for when you drop a Vitapod? I think somewhere a GM said that they disabled Vitapod dropping because it was devastating for new players when they accidentally did it. If this got included, what if when you dropped a Vitapod all the extra health stored in it became temporary? Then you could go and pick it up again.

    erm using pills for extra

    erm using pills for extra health is OP... u pop a pill every time u see one and it basically adds its full bars to urs :| If I wasn't concerned about its OPness, I would like the idea of not getting hit and stacking up "gold" hp bars without health trinkets.

    You have 3 Health in Tier 1.
    You equip a +3 Vitapod.
    You now have 6 Health. (Full Health)
    You pop a Tier 1 Pill. You cannot. Why? Because you are at full health. Silly you.
    You take one Health of damage. You are now at 5 Health. (Not full Health)
    You pop a pill. You are now at 6 Health + 2 Pill Health. (Full Health)
    You take one health of damage. You are now at 6 Health + 1 Pill Health. (Not full Health)
    You pop a pill. You are now at 6 Health + 3 Pill Health. (Full Health)
    Where did the extra Pill Health go? Silly you. You can only have +3 Pill Health in Tier 1.

    Let us skip to Tier 2.

    You have 6 Health + 3 Pill Health. (Full Health)
    You take 5 health of damage. You are now at 4 Health. (Not full Health)
    You absorb hearts. You regain +2 Health, but no Pill Health. Why? Because Hearts don't heal Pill Health. Silly you.
    You pop a Tier 2 Pill and get 6 Health + 6 Pill Health.
    OR
    You pop two Tier 1 Pills and get 6 Health +6 (+3 +3) Pill Health.
    You cannot get any more Pill Health than +6 in Tier 2.

    Do you understand? Should I continue?

    As you add more stuff

    This still seems cool but I'm not sure it would be implemented for fear of confusing the !@#$ out of everyone. SK has always been about simplicity, and I believe it has stuck to that for the most part so far. This is nowhere near simple, and would be a challenge to implement seamlessly without it seeming out of place.

    I'd love this to be a thing. I don't know what more to say than that.

    Why not this...
    You may not overheal if you are currently overhealed or are currently at full health (100% or more, basically). Popping a pill while overhealed will do nothing.
    You may overheal if you pop a pill and are below full health.

    Max overheals: +3 in Tier 1, +6 in Tier 2, +12 in Tier 3.

    Seems pretty simple to understand to me (not necessarily simple to code, though!)

    You are experiencing a PICNIC ERROR!

    @Malsvir-Branea

    Sample overheal code in C:

    /* pilluse: returns the health of the Knight for the appropriate tier */
    int pilluse(int tier, int knightHP, int maxHP) {

    int heal;

    /* Code for figuring out how much the knight should be healed goes here... */

    if (knightHP > maxHP)
    return knightHP; // Player is already overhealed; do nothing
    else
    return knightHP + heal; // Player is either at max HP or is below
    }

    This code is actually simpler than NOT having over healing, because then you don't have to check for healing maxing out; you only check for already being over healed. So, it's easy to code, unless they have extra stuff going on with healing.

    Probably would work better as

    Probably would work better as a void method (Code below is Java)

    private void pillUse(Pill bar, Knight foo) {

    int heal = bar.getAmount();
    int hp = foo.getHP();

    if(hp>0 && hp<=foo.getMaxHP())
    foo.setHP(hp+heal); }

    Void because you're using it as a modifier to the knight object's HP.
    Depending on the application the knight could be an implicit parameter or explicit parameter. In the above code the knight is an explicit parameter.

    I was over thinking it in my head before.

    I love this

    Overhealing would be a great addition for not having to wait so HALF your pill wont be wasted.

    The other thing i want to add, make it so spare Vitapods enable you to temporarily allow you to overheal your overheal, but the overheal health lowers by half a pip every 3 seconds.

    I don't think any extra Vitapods will drop if you have the highest tier Vitapod on you, unless a higher tier is dropped and you haven't collected it yet.

    Yes they can

    Yes, then unforunetally can. I have seen vitapods of the same status as mine drop and i cant use them or give them to someone, its a pain.

    Overhealing

    Overhealing would be nice so I don't waste part of a health capsule. I usually go in with two charms that increase my health by 7 each (14 total) Then I let my Vita Pods build up until I have silver health. Currently there are three types of healing capsules (1 type for each Tier) and you can hold 3 of each. If you save 3 of each through about depth 20 you can heal a lot of health.

    No trinket increases health

    No trinket increases health by 7. They both increase health by 6.
    The highest health-giving trinkets are the Penta-Heart Pendant and the True Love Locket, both of which increase health by 6.

    Still Great Pendants

    Sorry it has been a while since I have played. But a pendant that increases your health by 6 is still worth the effort to craft. Use those pendants with Vita Armor equipped and it adds up to a lot of health.
