Well Agian. Were Losing our items.

"Lastly, please note that after the Preview Event has concluded and we ready
Spiral Knights for the official launch, that all character progress and items
will be erased. However you will retain your account and any energy purchased
during the Preview Event will be re-granted to you at the official launch,

And I know theres really nothing to be done about this but I putting in a Suggestion that if possible we could maybe keep the items? It's a bit far fetched but the idea of losing all my hard work puts me off in the end when im working to get these items. So If at all even the slightest bit possible may we keep our items?

Sorry If Im asking to much of it just wanted to put it out there.

Isn't that just the nature of a Beta? I missed that part of the e-mail, but I fully expected it. It was the same way for RO.

It would be a bit silly. What

It would be a bit silly. What if things changed so much between now and release that brandishes and firebreak shields are now super powerful and super rare and super expensive and super hard to get in every way, and all these new players are joining up to see a few hundred players that just... have them already?

Also, you're getting your energy back, plus a bonus; getting back the stuff you spent it on would be like having one cake and eating two.

Well yeah

I know but its the whole its gone now part that makes me sad, alot of hard work and then its gone, but it is the nature of a beta and I see how its a little unfair. Ahaha

I think it should stay as is.

I think it should stay as is. It'd be fairer for new players if we all started on similar terms.

New players would be envious of the old and begging for items, old players would have to deal with them in parties. S'how it'd go I believe.

edwarius has a good point.

edwarius has a good point. its unfair for the players hat OOO has not invited, as we will have an incredulous lead over them.

look at it this way, we will have more developed skills, so we'll still be ahead, in a way.

I'd rather not have items

I'd rather not have items than have OOO work around old save data and potentially gimp the game later on down the track.

Quite frankly, id rather that

Quite frankly, id rather that all the closed beta players got a single, special item at the final release, rather then keep all the items we earned in beta... If we do get one, I whould tottaly want a paper bag helmet... just sayin.

I'm with Zardica. Losing all

I'm with Zardica. Losing all your items will be kind of depressing if you need to start all over from scratch like new players. Having a shiny new toy to play will would dull the pain a little.

If you purchase energy,

If you purchase energy, you'll at least be getting that back plus 25% more. Keeping items doesn't seem at all feasible, since so much is subject to change from preview to release - recipes, item names, armor, and weapon stats, etc.

a special beta-tester-only

a special beta-tester-only item would of course be lovely

it could even be a marginally-useful novelty item like a proto gun that shoots bullets of a color you can't find anywhere else and i'd think it was be the bee's knees

I think if beta testers were

I think if beta testers were to get an exclusive item, a novelty helmet or other harmless item would do the trick; Zardica and Benamas had the right idea there.

But I'm fine with the current state of things - we're already going to have a pretty big head start with our 125% energy right off the bat, after all.

To be honest I'm fine the way

To be honest I'm fine the way things are. Getting back 125% of your CE is awesome. I've purchased most of my CE with actual money, so it's a bit like an investment for when the game comes out.

Sure, I wouldn't mind having a bonus item; but I don't think keeping our items is the right idea.

Hmm, when it says

Hmm, when it says, "energy purchased during the Preview Event," does it refer only to real money transactions? That's what I assumed, but now that I think about it, it's not entirely clear.

Free Tortodrone mounts for everyone!

When we use the term "purchase" energy, we are indeed speaking of real money transactions.

I don't want to commit to anything specific yet, but on the team, we've definitely spoken about giving our Preview Event folk a humble gift of some sort, to express our gratitude. We shall see!

Butter on bacon!

Seriously, every beta tester who supported the game by donating a few dollars in trade of energy, will get a 25% bonus back. Which means that I who have bought 27.5 k energy, will get a bonus on 8.3 k at the release. Isn't this enough for you? And those who just "tested" the game and haven't even supported the OOO with a few dollars doesn't really deserve any reward either. If there was ever going to be a beta reward, you can't expect anything else than a little star at the end of your name or something that's not an equipment.

-Thanks

A simple costume helmet or

A simple costume helmet or armor would probably suffice.

i think we already discussed this before

as i remeber, one of the devs (don't remeber who) said that it would have a reward for all the testers apart from the energy reward (as i understood, energy reward is not a beta tester reward, but rather a "thank you for your pattronage").

-I go with any kind of equip with all stats 0, that looks awesome (not as awesome as the stronger equips, though)
-Maybe begin with the 3 initial equips (sword, bomb, gun), and a free month weapon slot
-maybe an exclusive usefull recipe that can only be made at the core, using a special alchemy machine (to ensure no begin advantage, but later game advantage...but not that much, and not the best weapon/equip of the game either, just....good enough to pair with the better weapon/equip)

I vote for awesome looking equip sets!!! (and maybe a beta tester shop where you can buy already bound equips that look awesome too, or access to visual equip recipes).

Agree

Yer i think a novelty helmet would be great to acknowledge our help with the game! something like a party hat maybe or a construction hat that says beta!

nvm

EDIT: This post was a question about the holiday hats and whether they will stay with the players once SK is released.
It expires anyway... D:

Maybe a special item for Beta testers?

Maybe we (the Beta testers) could get a special item? I was thinking that maybe we should start with the best weapon and armour we had when the game goes commercial, and lose the rest of the stuff (like the stuff we didn't need) or maybe we could choose our weapon from a list of what equipment that we had obtained/bought/crafted in the beta version? If they do this, not all of our hard work making equipment would go to waste! Also, maybe we START with it, but can't equip it until we reach Haven or whatever the main town will be in the commercial version?
