Should i buy the Chaos cloak from supply depot for 3500 ce or build from scratch, from the 2star Magic cloak?
Chaos cloak, making or buying ???
What bopp said. Would you rather pay 3500ce, or 1450ce (plus 43900cr and mats for crafting and recipe costs)?
Given that you are capable of working for minimum wage, buying from the supply depot is easily cheaper than crafting your gear.
Minimum wage: 7.25 USD per hour = 1.3 hours for 3500 CE worth of money (10 USD)
Farming Firestorm Citadel: 11K per run; if runs take you 40 minutes each because you're a boss, you'll take 14 runs to get Bopp's 150K cr. 14 times 40 minutes is about 9 hours and 20 minutes.
Thus, the supply depot is a steal. Provided that you get the same enjoyment from working a crappy job and farming firestorm citadel.
Of course, it'd more fair to consider heating it rather than paying for it, because all that says is that FSC pays less than minimum wage. 2 FSC runs + 1 jelly king run to heat a 3* and a 4* item to level 5 and 10 respectively (you get your friends to die for you a bit in FSC) = an hour and 45 minutes (Speedrunning FSC takes you 40 minutes; speedrunning the jelly kingdom takes you 25 minutes). So the supply depot is quite a bit cheaper in terms of time spent on it.
Fehzor wins an internet.
One problem we face in Bopp's arguing is that he assumes no mist is used for crafting and is thus not in my opinion the cheapest method.
Yes, we can calculate the cost of crafting in various ways, depending on whether the player values mist or not, whether the player has the materials or not, whether the player's friend has the 3-star recipe and can craft for him or not, etc.
Yes, by default, I calculate crafting costs valuing mist energy equal to crystal energy. The reason is that many new players mistakenly assume that mist energy has no value, because it is given to us every day. That is a very wrong viewpoint, that I wish to actively fight.
Mist energy has no value, if you have no time for (or interest in) playing. But mist energy has tremendous value if you have time for playing, because you can convert that mist energy into fun and crowns, and convert those crowns into crystal energy.
For example, people on these forums complain about the energy system, sometimes because they spend their mist energy on crafting, and then have no mist energy left for playing. Really, they should play, and then use their profits to buy crystal energy, and craft using crystal energy.
I'm not saying that crafting with crystal energy is right for everyone. I'm just saying that each player should evaluate his optimal way of using this tremendous gift of mist energy that we get every day.
Definitely. Personally, I prefer crafting with Mist because I don't always feel like playing. Nor do I always have the time to run FSC/RJP/misc. grind stuffs for two hours a day. It gets rather repetitive. D28 Arenas, now that's good stuff. Doesn't get old. Doesn't make me want to eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeh I'd rather not.
This question has nothing to do with Chaos Cloak. I mean, it applies exactly as well to all non-boss 5-star items. In the following calculations, I assume that CE costs 7,000 crowns per 100 CE; this is approximately true today. The total cost of making a 5-star item from scratch --- including recipes, crafting costs, etc. --- is 150,000 crowns plus materials. The value of 3,500 CE is 35 * 7,000 = 245,000. Thus the Supply Depot is a rip-off --- or, more charitably, an expensive shortcut for impatient players. Here are four plans:
A. If you're not interested in unique variants, then you should buy the 3-star (for about 15,000) or 2-star (for about 1,000) version from another player, and then upgrade from there. This is almost always the cheapest way to get to 5 stars.
B. If you are interested in UVs, then try mass-crafting Magic Cloaks, or buying a UV Magic Cloak from another player.
C. Even if you're not interested in UVs, you could craft Chaos Cloak yourself from scratch. This plan is still cheaper than the Supply Depot, and you get four chances to get UVs.
D. You could buy Chaos Cloak from the Supply Depot. This is the worst option, both in terms of crowns spent and your chance to get UVs. Its only advantage is that it is extremely fast.
