Instead of a click instantly executing a weapon's first strike, it should just initialize the charge
and simply execute the first attack if you let go before it's done charging (like it does now). That
way you could start up a charge witohut having to stop and swing, whichc an be a real nuisance
with some of the slower weapons. It will not work that way for the subsequent attacks in the combo,
however, since I'm not sure how that would be implemented without breaking the combo system.

Shield charging

Have you ever tried shield charging?
Hold up your shield and hold the attack button. Release your shield after roughly 2 seconds and you can charge without attacking.
I've used that ever since I moved to slow weapons (Suda, Jalvo, Gran Faust) and it's much better than attack charging.

As a more advanced version of

As a more advanced version of Aveond's suggestion, you can charge your weapon without holding your shield up
Press and hold shield, press and hold attack, then release shield. (do this as fast as possible) 2 seconds later, just tap the shield button.

Part of the reason behind the attack beforehand is probably to give a higher level of risk to using the charge

Nope

Are you saying this from lazyness, or rageness?

Lazy? Rage? No, I just think

Lazy? Rage? No, I just think it would be nice to be able to charge up an attack without first swinging, and
can't think of a particularly logical reason why that wouldn't work. Apparently, I stand alone in that belief...
