Hello everyone!

Have any of you often wondered about in-game hazards, such as spikes, barbed wire, even fire for that matter?

Well, take for instance, In tier 1 when you take damage from, lets say spikes that are across the floor, you could handle it, right?
Okay, take that same strip of spikes across the floor in tier 3, if you had enough health, were you thought you could survive it, it would not be the case.

The same holds true for fire, Fire in certain levels only deal some damage, but then when you are in the Tier 3 levels, Fire is completely deadly.

My point is this; I understand that monsters at certain stratum's react differently to different depths, but what about hazards?
Should all hazards be same, across all stratums? So like in tier 1, you get a fire hazard, and manage it, then you try that same exact hazard in tier 3, and its deadly, I don't feel its quite fair, Hazards should be balanced at least.

I disagree.

I'm completely for the more dangerous hazards in tier 3. unlike Tier 1 and part of tier 2 where hazards are more forgiving, they are still hazards and are meant to be avoided. by tier three, you should have considerable experience with hazards and should be able to identify both what status they deal and what they look like, so there is no excuse for running into or through them while they are capable of damaging you,.

That is reflected well in the considerable damage they do to you in those strata.

It's common knowledge in

It's common knowledge in games to not wander into anything that looks painful. It doesn't need to be explained.
Tier 3 is supposed to be less forgiving on players as tier 1. It's obvious that monsters should be, but traps should be too, since the player has more health and far more experience, so traps need to be more dangerous to reflect this.
Just like in most games where you have those holes or spikes in the level that you'll die instantly if you fall down them. Most games don't have those in earlier levels.

I do not like hazards. They waste my time. So I'm all for hazards all being like they are in tier 1.

@Fehzor Hazards in certain areas like the bridges on Depth 27 of FSC are quite literally just there to waste your time, or drain your health if you slip up somehow. Traps in certain areas like the final arena of D27 are meant to trap you to make it more "challenging", or certain areas like the double silkwing room in D25 FSC, where you time it right or die.

The hazards add tension to the game, and make certain areas more challenging. The more challenging areas are ok, but the tension areas are bad because there is very little tension left in the game for me, and now they are just wasting my time. I should be able to opt to run through those traps [without dying/taking substantial damages] imo.

You don't know what deadly is until you walk/lag onto a T3 Freeze trap or get stomped on by a T3 Silversap. Constant Freeze, incoming damage and a broken shield (and in the Silversap's case Stun as well), isn't very fun.

You don't know if the spikes from T1 are made from the same material than those on T3.

As for fire traps, maybe they aren't mechanical traps, maybe there's a dragon breathing under them. And just like other monsters, they get stronger the deeper you go :P

Agreed that freeze is most OP trap.

@OP: You said it yourself. Monsters get stronger the further down you go, so why not traps too? If they didn't, hazards would become essentially pointless as anyone with T3 gear could just waltz across them and barely even feel it.
