The Coliseum: Endless Monster Waves

Yet another Variation:

Make the host not King Krogmo. Make it so that it's an extra feature in arcade mode or a mini-game mission for Van-Guards. Gives rewards at the end that will be determined later.

Entry fee may be something else than 200 cr though. Maybe a key that you must unlock such as the shadow liars except less expensive. Maybe 100 CE entry or 50 CE. I honestly don't know. I'll think of something later.

Variation of the idea:

We make it 200 cr and not that strong of rewards. Maybe it could be the ordinary KC rewards and no crowns earned. Just add the costume items to King Krogmo's shop. Though, even though this isn't pvp, why not let the king have some fun watching knights being devoured by waves of monsters?

People have suggested Coliseum abilities, but I need help making some since I'm not always that creative. Feel free to comment suggestions of Coliseum abilities for it will be added to the post in this section.

Anyway, I was thinking of this idea of a gladiator arena and how to implement it into Spiral Knights. I mean, if you add a gladiator arena to Spiral Knights, it would be somewhat random, but... Nevertheless, I shall precede. You need a Parchment of recognition to be able to participate. To get it, you must kill monsters long enough to obtain it for it is found in monsters of a drop chance of 0.5% Once you have obtained it, King Krogmo will allow you to participate. You enter a arena where there is endless waves of monsters. So, you're going to ask me:

"Endless waves of monsters. What would be the use of crowns? You're just making inflation."
Well, I think these monsters shouldn't drop crowns or heat. Problem solved. The only thing they drop is hearts at a 4% rate.

There are 3 tiers you can compete in. Every monster you kill will obtain you one score. You may revive up to 2 times. Once you have "died," you will be given a reward depending on your score. tier 3 monsters give more score than tier 2 or 1. Or, there could be a manipulation of different rewards for each tier. Another question you're about to ask me:

"What if a tier 3 with full 5 stars goes in tier one and gets: 3878927468483683969867584623985 score, Varo?"
Well, too bad, because you must go into the tier you are. If you're 5 star and you want to go into tier one, you'll need one star items.

It will read you as a tier 1 - 3. It will then choose normal random opponents you may encounter. As you progress, every 20 - 50 monsters or so you kill, the monsters will increase Health by (2*tier), Damage by (tier level), and also increase chance for harder monsters such as trojan horses or 20 gremlin demos, or even a quick boss. If it can be implemented, bosses could also show up in the arena after a certain number of kills. But they can only have one phase. Such as if two Jelly Kings came in tackling their way to you, you kill them both, gain 5 score each and they "die."

"Why not make it give Krogmo Coins?"

Well, I need to implement something that will bring a challenge to Spiral Knights. KC rewards are too easy because all you do is play Lockdown or Blast Network and never play the arena and get KC. These are rare awards and are unable to be easily recieved. Only the best will be able to get the full set because you may recieve the same thing twice.

"Well, it seems boring. What are the rewards?"

Rewards will be determined in the future.

Possible advantages of this:
-More Fun
-More monster killing
-Collect rare items

Possible disadvantages of this:
-Hard to get
-Easy money

Possible changes:
-Less money gained
-No money gained
-Different map Parchments
-Different tier Parchments
-More Items

I will support this if you add the coliseum abilities to this, and make it a teamwork thing that does not get unlocked by something harder to get than a hunting blade dropping in JK (Which has happened, and I was there)

Something that I disagree

I kinda disagree with getting the 1-5 weapon because it's coliseum and u only spend 200 cr to go in to the game and get cr and KC.
Getting weapons and getting costume when getting the score above 300 is way too diffrent then what coliseum usually had.

It shouldn't give me costume when above 300 score, but maybe new costume in Sullivan's store (arcade) would be good.
(maybe price for 150-300 KC?)

And if u don't know what KC is, it's Krogmo Coin.

You have to find a ticket to go in for 0.5% drop rate. Maybe a little better drop rate but around there. You cannot pay 200 cr to play. Read the first paragraph for more additional information.

It's just a rare reward. It has to be a challenge, unless you plan to change the score mark then sure, I'll change it.

Well, they could easily just play lock-down and get KC and earn the costume even though they never play this game. This game is only playable with a rare drop. It creates a rare challenge to get rare items.

The crucible challenge

so you basically desire an endless 'gauntlet' level... One in which each monster kill earns a point... Why not scale monster points? I mean, I could drop ITD all over the place and have 300 dead zombies/ gremlin sneezers(knockers) out in no time, make it Trojans and I stand less chance.

Do you want a timer on to dissuade endless farming?

I see 300 being too low a focus for monster points (unless you desire it to be like, 5 waves of ungodly lag- er monster counts). I also submit a request for the tickets to gauntlet be purchasable via kc's (500, price of 3-5* recipes on krogmo weapons, t3 access) I don't desire to see a krogmo game becoming inaccessible to everyone, but do jive with the idea of a more difficult to get into game.

The monsters will be harder as the wave progresses. It is almost impossible to hold at about 400 score. The longer and more points you rack, the more strong the enemies will get.

Nice idea. I mean, you don't want to stay there forever. I'll add it to suggestions.

threads like this remember me I have my own survival mode to finish. ah well.
please scale tiers and rewards. you can't have a 5% chance to give a 2* a 5* weapon.
rare chance to get rare items? do you know how many vana runners are there? and how many slags are in a vana? it's more than likely that every vanguard will be able to access in a week.
also, how will the difficulty scale?

Commenting as I read here.

0.5% rate. Do you know what that means? Let's say there's approximately 70 monsters in FSC. That means that if you run two FSC runs a day on your 100 mist, by that probability you'll get the drop 2/3 of the days that you log on to spiral knights.

Where do you enter the arena? How big is the room? How will they spawn? Will you get vials? Can you team up? Is there a limit to how high you can go? I know people that can probably handle 3 Vanas with a blitz, shiv, and DA. Will different classes (elite, heavy, etc) give different scores?

I'm not worried about KCs. Everyone would still do this because it has no sink at all. In fact, Krogmo is a major sink because Krogmo=PvP which this is not.

"Rare items that are hard to get" (or something along those lines) anyone rich and bored can AND will get all of the items before its been out a week. Why? FSC grinding for the "rare" token with their CE.

In fact, anyone who actually bothers with this won't just get the armor. If they get a weapon, that's instant crowns. Got a cautery sword? Vendor it. I would do this just to earn crowns from vendoring equipment. I already do it wih the tokens we have.

Now if you just want to kill infinite waves of monsters I can drop you off at the compounds any time.

Alright, I'll just lower the chances in rate of getting rewards depending on tier.

Alright, so... about 500. I guess it's either decrease the drop rate or only able to play with KC.

To enter the Arena, it should appear on the Coliseum tab. When pressed, there will be lockdown, blast-network, and this game will appear in gray. The room is about as big as two times an average arena, the levels in arcade where there are up to 3 rooms with enemies spawning. They will spawn on the outside edges of the arena. You start in the middle. I was thinking no because it would make it easier for a team to do it than someone else but... it has been suggested. The limit is when you die. As you progress, it will be stronger and stronger, which means you might not last long. Someone suggested a timer so maybe once the timer is up.

I think I may have to change the location of it and the host, since it's not PvP. I have yet to decide on a location. When I think about it, I'll post it up.

Three possibilities:
One, certain types of monsters drop this.
Two, decrease the rate.
Three, pay KC only to play.

Alright, maybe the removal of the additional reward may make it better.

problem is that increasing monster health and damage doesn't work, it's the same dumb monster, just with more hp. as for more challenging monster spawns, I had that idea too, so +1

Yeah, I think I'm sticking with stronger monsters. Maybe buffed monsters if the idea seems somewhat interesting. Buff monsters have an aura:
Red Aura: Unable to knock down and knock back
Blue Aura: Regen health over time (Less than a sprite's heal so it can be Killable)
Green Aura: Increased movement speed and dodge speed
Etc.

I like the idea but

If you add coliseum ablilities, allow teaming up, make it 200cr per match and make the enemy AI smarter I will definetly support this. It is a great idea, that i have always wanted.

King Krogmo goes mad

Honestly I think King Krogmo would be going mad at this point, as the KKC was originally intended for monsters to get their rocks off (their backs) watching us knights kill each other in place of constantly killing their families, blah blah, lore, blah.

Anyway, back to the task at hand.

In the event of tickets being purchase able via KC's... I would actually suggest that this be a mostly t3 manner of event. No t1 or t2 babying. If you go to the crucible you start at d25 level of power and fight your way down.

I feel that the crucible itself should contain multiples of 5 waves, with each 5 waves causing an event...
Events could be anything from time attacks, to boss battles.

But the more I think of this, the more I see myself requesting this just be either a: an arcade feature as alternative to SL's, or b: a missions feature for Vanguards as an endgame 'mission impossible' grinder... With a considerable reward and/or prize box at certain points.
