does elite difficulty prevent vitapods from droppping completely or is it just so low that i haven't seen any yet?

I just did Heart of Ice on elite and didn't get a pod until the treasure room at the end.

Just did an entire UFSC on normal and didn't get a single vitapod the entire time, including depths 19-23.

It's just a really low drop rate.
Elite has inflated enemy stats and reduced chance for healing items, excluding health pills, so it seems.
