It might seem like this would be the case, since the red, yellow and purple minerals will be deposited less now, but you're forgetting one very important factor here: no one deposits minerals skillfully anyways ;)
Also, if less of certain minerals are put in, the gate start paying you more for them (this is probably how it works, I'm not going to check). So the money-hungry folks will still deposit those minerals.

They will probably release
They will probably release new sprites in the future that use the blue/green minerals, so I am holding on to them, thank you very much.

At the absolute maximum, a gate will only pay 4cr per mineral. Even at that point, the players trying to maximize their minerals would be better off waiting for new sprites to be released; the motes, dusts, stones, orbs, and stars are going to get crafters well over 4cr per mineral.
:C Looks like that Master Miner achievement is going to have to be put on hold for me, again.

And I predict that the irrational players will on average hold more green and blue minerals.

Actually, its pretty much hit or miss with ice for armor. If you want to prepare for the blizzard, I'd suggest getting dread skelly shield + heater shield + [ironmight/omega with ice UVs], and then just straight up chaos for the actual levels.

This is all operating under the assumption that people will actually bother picking up Valestone and Moonstone againymore. Plus, if you go in parties, there are still people who will pick up the other two minerals that are useless to you that you'll deposit.

nope. I beleive that if you don't pick up a mineral, it goes in the gate that will substitute it. so blizzard is coming.

It looks like the core is dying out. The temperature is getting colder and not even loose heat can level up our weapons (we have to forge them with concentrated heat blasts from fire crystals)
It's also stopped producing mist, so Knights are now powering elevators with what reserve energy they've stored up beforehand.

as much as I agree with you, I feel that this might be a welcome change to the constant creation of strata that requires dark matter. I'd rather let them be randomly chosen, unless people suddenly stop dumping dark matter into gates en masse for whatever reason. Hey, we can actually get SLIME STRATA for once! A-and, dare I say, FIRE strata!
