I noticed that when wolver type enemies in tier two and three are stuck with Caustic Quills, the quills appear to float above the ground for about half a second before the wolver appears. Pretty sure this behavior is not intended. It's most notable with larger quills.
Shooting wolvers with a magnus will do the same thing with the stun stars (or probably any status), except of course since they are stunned the wolvers take longer to emerge from the ground so its more obvious.
Due to this you can hit them before they are visible, or in reality, wolvers exist in their new locations a little while before their animation shows us.
