So, I'm not gonna lie, my computer is awful...and I mean AWFUL. 1.75 active ram gets you nowhere fast. I've been trying to do arena and such with friends and guildies, but the lag is just too intense (not server lag, FPS lag). Its getting to the point where i'm on the same frame for minutes at a time. Does anyone have any ways of making this bearable until I get a new laptop?

Graphic quality to low, disable rendering effects, disable antialiasing (x1), play on small resolution, enable compatibility mode.
Also you may look for tweaking guide using extra.txt.
Make sure that while playing game there are no other insignificant programs running and taking your computer resources.
