So since everyone's suggesting their ideas for sprites (and now they're released and we have a better idea of what sprite balance is) I'm going to pitch in with some attempts at creativity, while keeping everyone's threads organized, summarized, and easy to find.
Supposedly the logic goes that since Drakon consumes Crimsonite, Seraphynx Luminite, and Maskeraith Dark Matter, that there should be a sprite for Valestone and Moonstone. Let's look at the current set-up:
Minerals: Although not compulsory, it would be a good idea for the nature of a sprite to match the material it is fed:
Crimsonite: A fabled mineral of a fiery, red color said to contain the passion, anger and strength of the life surrounding it
Moonstone: A fabled mineral of a brilliant, blue color said to contain the knowledge and origins of all worlds
Valestone: A fabled mineral of a vibrant green color said to contain the essence of all natural life.
Luminite: A fabled mineral of a radiant, golden color said to contain the faith, wisdom, and zeal of the life surrounding it
Dark Matter: A fabled mineral dark and ominous in color said to contain the essences of both chaos and nothingness
Drakon:
Role: Entirely offensive orientated, and fire themed.
Mineral: Crimsonite
Ability 1: Damaging ranged attack with fire infliction, and upgradable AoE or Stun
Ability 2: Damaging shield with fire infliction, and upgradeable damage or movement speed boost
Ability 3: AoE fire infliction, and upgradable damage or party-wide movement speed + attack buff
Seraphynx:
Role: Entirely defensive orientated
Mineral: Luminite
Ability 1: Damaging beam attack, and upgradeable damage or defence reduction
Ability 2: AoE "Healing" ability, and upgradeable damage or party passive defence buff
Ability 3: AoE defensive ability, and upgradeable active defence buff or charge buff
Maskeraith
Role: Debuff & offence orientated
Mineral: Dark Matter
Ability 1: Damaging ranged attack with poison infliction, and upgradeable damage or spread
Ability 2: Aggro drop, and upgradeable attack buff or stun infliction
Ability 3: AoE damage, with upgradable status infliction or spread
In the next post I'll go over ideas that people have come up with so far and explain the roles they fill. Once I've figured out a gap in the circle of available Sprite "niches", I'll suggest my sprite.
Grittle's "Glopdrip":
1) Rupture: Summons a line of spikes from the ground starting at the player, causing Damage and slight knockback
1a) Spikes circle the player in addition to being fired in a line
1b) Decreases enemy's offence
2) Geltallic Coat: User gains a passive defensive buff and knockback Biteback
2a) User also gains stun biteback
2b) Allies also gain the passive defensive buff
3) Sticky Situation: Designates an AoE where enemies are slowed
3a) Enemies are poisoned by the AoE
3b) Enemies are shocked by the AoE
Summary:
Role: Defensive and debuff orientated
Mineral: Valestone
Forbidden Harness: Shadow
Ability 1: Damaging beam, and upgradeable AoE or offence debuff
Ability 2: Passive defence with KB biteback, and upgradeable stun or passive party defensive buff
Ability 3: AoE speed debuff, and upgradeable shock or poison infliction
Emlotargh's "Snow Owl"
1) Cold Breath: A cone shaped attack that freezes targets
2) Reflecting Aura: Reflects 50% of projectiles that strike the player. Reflected projectiles can damage enemies.
3) Rune of Cold: Places a proximity trap that deals damage and freeze when triggered
3a) Mines also stun enemies
Summary:
Role: Entirely indirect damage orientated, and freeze themed
Mineral: Moonstone
Forbidden Harness: Shadow or Piercing
Ability 1: AoE Freeze infliction
Ability 2: Passive defence and damage biteback
Ability 3: Damage and freeze AoE
Emlotargh's "Storm Sprite"
1) Lightning Bolt: Fires in a line, piercing through multiple targets and causing damage + shock
1a) Bolts can arc off struck enemies to hit nearby ones
1b) Lightning bolt can also cause stun
2) Vigorous Attitude: Increases movement speed of the user and nearby party members
2a) Attack speed is also increased by all affected
2b) All players affected have a chance to deal shock with their weapons
3) Wild weather: "Area around the sprite suffers inclement weather. Possibly shocking, freezing, blown over by the wind -> knocking off their feet and some damage."
Summary:
Role: Speed and offensive orientated, and shock themed
Mineral: Moonstone
Forbidden Harness: ???
Ability 1: AoE shock infliction with damage, and upgradable spread
Ability 2: Movement speed buff, and upgradable shock infliction or attack speed buff
Ability 3: AoE shock infliction with damage (kinda redundant)
HexZyle's Cyclobot
1) Magnetic Bolt: A single bullet that when hits an enemy, finds the nearest knockback-vunerable enemy within 5 blocks and pulls it towards the first
1a) Enemies take damage from traps while being pulled
1b) A second enemy is also pulled
2) Supercharged: Vials thrown by the player do far more damage and have the status infliction range increased
2a) When activated, all party members statuses in a short radius are cured. Remedies used during Supercharged give nearby players 5 second status immunity.
2b) Any mecha knights activated are equipped with the player's current weapon, subsequently inheriting the player's DPS.
3) Priority Target: An aura surrounding the player that instantly pulls full aggro
3a) Any attacks Constructs or Gremlins make while in the area also damages themselves equally
3b) Enemies within the area suffer an attack reduction
Summary:
Role: Enemy manipulation and Utility
Mineral: ???
Forbidden Harness: ???
Ability 1: Enemy clustering, and upgradable spread or damage
Ability 2: Utility buff, and upgradeable resistance or utility damage
Ability 3: Draw Aggro, and upgradable biteback or attack debuff
