It is a huge pain leveling up something to 10, which I think should be only for if you want to fully max out something to get it as powerful as you possibly can.

Also, 2* heat crystals are absolutely worthless.

THEREFOR, I suggest this:

• 3* crafting needs level 3 gear.
• 4* crafting needs level 5 gear.
• 5* crafting needs level 7 gear.

The first one could completely screw the 3* item market, so I may take that down. It's only if I get positive feedback that it will stay.
