Since when did they say Valkyrie Wings, Dragon Wings, and Halos were rare/limited edition? They've already been featured in two energy promos, not to mention countless featured.
Get off your conspiracy horse, people have been asking for these to be re-released at a not stupidly marked up price for ages, and Three Rings have done an excellent job doing so.
"Veteren Players" have still got their Chapaus and Tabards, and the countless other promotions that haven't been featured.

They probably could have halted the automated Featured system first before releasing this.
I feel though that one of the reasons for them doing this is because a lot of the high-end accessory market had been completely monopolized by the upper-class society of Spiral Knights. This new sale system allows Three Rings to get the items directly to the players who want them but always had them pulled out of their reach by people with a more established wealth.

Why does anyone even care that they're bringing this stuff back? They're purely cosmetic. Shouldn't we be promoting diversity among players, not greed amongst the people that have enough money to hoard stuff as it's released?

I have no problem with them releasing these accessories, but you have to think about it.
All people want rare, good looking items that match with their sets. For the most part, rare, good looking items that matched people's sets were far out of the reach of most SK players. Because they were desired. People want them, they'd chew off a leg for them. Now that they're affordable, it's not diverse to own them. I can't even count how many Prismatic Valks and Halos I've seen today.

I'd rather concern myself with fitting my character to look unique and distinguishable than worrying about whether I look wealthier than Rich-Skolver to my right. If their idea of utilizing a rare accessory is to slap it on because the item holds a lot of prestige then I think they're missing the point. But what do I know - maybe some people just want to look wealthier than others.
