Replace the broken elevator in Clockwork Terminals with a Mineral Alchemy Machine. Blue Shards, Red Shards, etc. can be crafted into their respective minerals here at a 10 shards to 1 mineral rate. You can also craft Minerals into Alloys here for use in changing Arcade gates. For example, one could use 15 Crimsonite and 15 Dark Matter to craft a Fiend Alloy.

Basil in Clockwork Terminals now sells Alloys in addition to his recipes. Each alloy can only be purchased once per visit, and he only stocks those which contain the current stratum's Anti mineral (in the current gate construction system) as an ingredient. For example, a Fiend stratum Basil would stock a Slime Alloy, Undead Alloy, Construct Alloy, and Fire Alloy.

Gate construction made simple: Each stratum has an alloy value, which begins at 0 and is increased by 1 each time an Alloy is deposited. The stratum theme with the highest alloy count is chosen when the gate is finished.

And finally, each player can only deposit one alloy per stratum (for a total of 5 alloys per gate), emphasizing cooperation between players, rather than one person with too many minerals changing a gate by themself.

This seems like the current system, only with an extra layer of complexity added. I do like being able to craft shards into minerals, though.

+1 + -1 = ±0

My main intention was to try to find a way to get players more actively involved in gate construction, rather than ignoring it because their sprites use up all of their minerals.

I'm not sure what the reward for depositing alloys should be. Probably equal or slightly higher than what Basil would sell them for, as this won't help more people participate if they're going to lose money from it.

This seems kinda silly, tbh.

This seems kinda silly, tbh. People would still feed all their minerals to their sprites, the crown influx could cause all sorts of issues, and being able to pick stratum themes directly could cause large guilds to be able to manipulate the Clockworks for their own benefit.

Crafting minerals is cool though.
