...if they allowed you to move freely while swinging, and had their damage changed to split-Normal-Pierce?

The split normal/piercing would make them great for grievers, but not much else. Beasts are already a breeze, and their main use of taking down turrets would be killed by piercing damage.

They'd fit much better as an elemental weapon, but we've already got that. Shadow would work quite well too though.

Pierce fits them a bit more aesthetically, but I see your point.

Perhaps WHB could be Pierce and DVS could be Shadow?

I like the thought of free

I like the thought of free movement, but it having split damage would just be OP it already gets more out of damage bonus than other weapons with the same damage total.

Well, I guess there aren't any pure-Shadow swords out there.

god no.

I'll throw them out of my inventory if they get specialized damage (well, maybe a piercing WHB could do). they are made to be used everywhere. stay so.
besides, if they were made piercing, flourish would still be better. it's faster and stronger.

I would stop using them if they suddenly let you move freely. Sounds boring to me.

How freely are we talking here though? Full movement speed? Half movement speed? Keep in mind that free movement basically turns them into short-range guns, as free movement is a big advantage for the handgun class.

I've asked for a split

I've asked for a split piercing WHB god knows how many times but they still haven't done anything to even buff the cutter lines. Also, what do you mean allowing you to freely move while swinging? They already do that.

you got me torn like patch work.

You have me split here mate. I love my DVS and I would love for it to deal shadow but I also love how I can use it any where.
We also need a single pure normal one. It could cause stun and maybe fire? At least stun.

One of the main reasons i use a lot those swords its because they can be used on any level without worries.

DVS due the speed and the poison status, so i can use it with anything that isnt a poison monster (in the way that i cant apply the status) works perfectly agaisnt Devilites and greavers god that weapon its amazing agaisnt them. i used agaisnt trojans too. changing it to "shadow poison" sword will make me quit using that sword and replace it with the BTB. if we need a "shadow cutter" i would prefer it would have it own line and not be placed on the "Dread Venom Strike" line.

WHB i liked it due the enemy attack interruption but if im honest i dont use it a lot like the DVS, because its a bit slow, but works really amazing with a vortex bomb, attracting enemies there then use the charge of WHB to hit any enemy on the vortex bomb. i wouldnt mind if this sword get half normal and half piercing damage...

Anyway something like:

Dread Venom Striker : Normal Cutter Line
Wild Hunting Blade: Piercing Cutter Line
New Shadow sword: Shadow Cutter Line

will be something i would approve.

I say, buff up WHB's buff to VH and split the damage, anyway. Make it comparable with the family bonus/status shard bombs without the bugs and design flaws.
As for DVS, I think it's a pretty balanced weapon. If I am to explain myself, it's not underpowered in my opinion. It's just that all shadow and elemental swords+two piercing swords are OP. Some reflection against WHB's buff would be needed though. Split shadow/piercing is an option. Buffing the poison could be done, too.

@Fehzor
I really disagree with the main use of Cutters being to take down turrets. The interruption of other swords is far more valuable, especially when it means there are fewer bullets flying at your friends. I'd say Voltedge is the best turret killer due to shock interruption+the powerful and interrupting combo.

Cutters are good on stationary/bulky targets because they effectively always hit with their 2nd ghost strike.

Compared to other swords, cutters are kind of lackluster.

fire shadow sword plez.

Name the shadow variation the "Infernalado"(5 star version) and make it have a chance to cause fire. The name is a mix of infernal, and tornado.

I'm suggesting being able to move freely because

1.) it's a feature absent from swords,
2.) free movement on a Cutter will not totally invalidate guns or steal their spotlight because they're extremely close-range weapons,
3.) it'd be a way to make Cutters unique from other weapons that currently do its job better,
4.) the almost-free-movement in the Rocket Hammer lines are, according to everyone I've asked, the reason why they're so fun and rewarding to use,
5.) because I think Cutters should offer something other than making them the best single-target swords,
6.) because it'd make the "ghost" strikes able to hit moving targets.

Of course, it doesn't have to be perfectly 1:1 movement, but I'd say only slightly slower.

If most people want DVS to stay pure-normal, perhaps we could see a rehash of the Phantoms' cutter-ish weapons.

Also, here's something to think about- what if the FoV had a normal attack pattern like a Cutter while keeping its charge attack, with appropriately scaled damage?

The reason why i'm gonna get wild hunting blade as my first 5*

Well because someone gave me the 5* wild hunting blade recipe when i'm still in HoH 3* (before this update)
And because I watched YouTube about wild hunting blade and I heard it's good for charge attack to vanaduke to it's back.
So normal-piercing dmg would be great! But -5%/-10% to the normal-piercing dmg for the fair dmg.
(still don't know if split normal-piercing dmg does the same dmg or normal+piercing (like 2x dmg), like bolt brand with the normal-element dmg)

nah

I would rather either gain attack rate when ever a ghost blade hits or movement speed.
