Hm...
Check your controls in the option menu. That's all I can really say for now. Some people use the mouse to move via clicking, some use the arrow keys, some use the ASDW keys, etc. Make sure the game is in focus too. Press Esc to open the option menu if you don't know how to navigate through the UI.

Is it possible that your registry is spazzed up due to permission errors? Try setting custom controls, and then restarting the game and seeing if the controls are still custom.
