I mean assuredly this game will pretty much die again with it being fairly unbalanced in some aspects such as equipment, pvp, etc. The only reason we keep coming back is for updates, but what if OOO decides to delay updates? or no more updates at ALL!?What will happen to this game? Discuss.

If a game is free, people will play it.

Dead is what veterans call it when a whole lot of their friends have quit and they decide to also quit.

@Feyi-Feyi: Sounds about

@Feyi-Feyi: Sounds about right :p The game has 'died' for me at least once, maybe twice. Can't remember.

I think it'll stay kicking for a while, it's still pretty active as far as I can tell and Battle Sprites, dropping energy, and the little hints they're dropping seem to be signs of updates to come.

Also: I believe steam has statistics showing more people joining than ever
That and the decreased difficulty to get into it (not that it ever was hard, I grinded to 5* when CE was 9k+ without complaining)
should ensure this game stays alive.

Woah, what?

Wait, CE was 9k? Wow, I must've been gone a long time. I remember it as 4k or so, maybe 5k.

Yeah, energy being much less a part of core gameplay definitely helps get players into the game, and bringing back old players (like me). It'll probably help them stick around to, this'll probably be the first time I get to full 5* gear and Vanguard (that's the highest rank, right?)
If updates did slow down significantly or stop, it'd definitely start to fizzle out , not sure how fast though. There'd probably still be a sizable chunk of die-hard fans though.

If it wasn't for steam launch...

This game would probably not have survived. I know I only found this game through steam. I'm sure thousands other did.

But I believe this game will die when......never. :P This game is free and every day more and more people are getting steam.

They say that free stuff in life is the best. :D Can't argue with that. (Well I did buy OCH but that's about it. c:)

perceptions can become reality

When you're dealing with people's psychology, there is a fine line between perceptions and reality. When people on the forums keep making threads about "Is this game dying?", "When did this game die?", etc., it poisons the group psychology a little bit. Newbies, who may not realize that the original poster has no particular insight, might start looking for other games. So, if you like this game, then my request is that you keep such questions to yourself.

After awhile, people might

After awhile, people might just quit because of a frustrating system (Before = Elevators. Now = Forging). After a couple months, they're gonna make it seem less of a hassle, and bring people back again.

Such is the cycle of Spiral Knights.

Yeah if you look at the total

Yeah if you look at the total amount of players online for Steam, it will also give the current and peak amount of players for the top 100 games (according to current player count). I think SK peaked at 4k players after the update, where the former trend was around 2.5k peak Considering this is JUST Steam, not counting other platforms, or Vanilla SK, I'm sure there is around 10k+ players at a guestimate.

Dying? Not when we are always top 100 on Steam.

For every veteran that leaves, 10 noobs create an account and start begging to get carried to Vana.
It's a proven fact.

Of course

The answer, is a thousand years. If that don't work, use more a thousand years. *pause*
.
Anyways, this game isn't dying anytime soon. Lots of nubs quit after they reach 3 star because that's when the grindfest begins. They leave, stay away for a month or so, then come back again after a big update. And this game updates more constantly than a lot of games. When a game is in beta for 3 years, it is pretty much dead because their devs probably gave up. But not our devs. They have a unique (and ragefest causing) way of slowing down progression. /e ends speech

Wait is this game still

Wait is this game still actually in official beta or was that sarcasm? I thought the game itself was finished and they just kept adding and changing things.

When will this game die again?

But its alive. So this game is now a zombie? But we kill zombies all the time. We are the ones that are killing Spiral Knights. Mind = Blown.
