Negative Damage Resistances

Like Statuses, What if SOME Armors gave a negative resistance towards other damages, for example, Skolver Cap/Coat have a Negative resistance to Shadow Damage. But don't give ALL the armor's negative resistances otherwise it'll be too much. So when wearing a Wolver cap, there is no penalty however once it hits 3* it would then get a penalty of low Shadow resistance. Ash Tail would be -2 and Skolver -3. Incase you don't know what I mean buy -2 and -3, I mean the amount of shadow resistance you would normally get but instead of resistance it's a penalty. So Skolver would have -High Shadow Resistance..(Also other ideas would be Perfect Mask of Seerus Piercing Penalty and Chaos Shadow Penalty, that would screw up Clones in FSC).
Firstly, I'll explain it better...

UV'S:

Shadow Low - 3*
Shadow Medium - 4*
Shadow High - 5*

So When you would equip a Skolver Cap with Shadow High, It would have no penalty. If it had Shadow Medium, it would have -1 Penalty.

Pretend I wrote something clever here

I'm not sure if this is a good idea or not. On the one hand, it would shake up the LD metagame and give people a hard counter to skolver clones, but it would also make the clockworks much harder. A lot of areas in the Clockworks don't have a single damage type, so your system would mean that people either wear a full set and have decent protection against one status and a 50/50 chance of being highly vulnerable to another (instead of merely being undefended against it), or they hybridize and have weak defense against everything, but don't take massive damage from 1/3 of the clockworks.

It's just that I already die in 2-3 hits. You can feel the lack of defense without going into negatives at least on elite.

The concept doesn't really serve a purpose. Do you want skolver to take more shadow damage? Lower the normal defence, tack on some extra piercing and elemental. The result will be effectively the same most of the time.

It's to balance out the Armor UV'S so they're just as useful as Statuses. Plus it wouldn't be for all Helmets/Armor, just a few...

You're not grasping what I'm saying.

Why give skolver:
+6 normal
+5 piercing
-3 shadow

When you could instead give it:
+3 normal
+5 piercing
+3 elemental

There's no need for the negative shadow. Just lower the normal defence to make it all-around worse.

The entire reason why the Magikat Hat was removed was because it had multiple resistances. So I don't agree with you on your idea. Even though you're offering less Normal Defence I still don't agree.

But today in the game there isn't a single piece of Armor that has 3+ defences, only Normal + Specialised or 2 Specialised...

Which is why I'm suggesting it. It'll also balance out the usefulness of the damage resistance UV's. Those items that used to be in the game were removed because they were too good (I presume, why else would they be removed?).

All armors used to be like that Potato. But they changed it away from that. And while zeddy is right, I wouldn't mind seeing a debuff like "take double damage from all sources" or someodd that could be used to balance chaos, black kat cowl and even mad bomber whenever they decide that that should be usable.

As for the need to "balance" class armor, I would strongly disagree with what you're saying. It isn't that class armor is "OP" it is that it is the only really plausible set of armor, and thus the "best value proposition"- http://forums.spiralknights.com/en/node/80053
