No UV Lockdown Option?

Just curious how people feel about an option to play Lockdown with all UVs disabled. Note that it is not to replace the current lockdown, but an additional Lockdown mode to queue up for, where all UVs are turned off.

This would be similar to "Avatar Off" zone in Gunbound for those who have played that game, in which the stat boosts given by equipment are turned off for all games in that zone. Avatar On zones exist, but people primarily enjoy playing in Avatar Off since Avatar On favors those who can afford the best equipment.

Pros:

  • Allows "middle class" players to play on an even playing field with the rich, as long as you can obtain the 5-star equipment. It would be more welcoming to allow new T3 players to enjoy lockdown without feeling excessively outclassed. Making lockdown more welcoming instead of intimidating would be a nice benefit.
  • Promotes a more "skill based" environment vs "who can spend the most money on UVs." Plus it would also stop people from complaining that they are losing because of crappy UVs, while also giving experienced LD players a challenge.
  • Encourage more variety of gear usage - it's common for people to choose natural damage buff armor and throw money at it to give it defensive / status resist UVs (since you can't throw money at defensive armor to get damage UVs), but now you might need to use defensive gear as a striker to offset status weaknesses, and you will rarely be immune to more than 2 statuses (Divine, Dread Skelly, Ice Queen come to mind)

Cons:

  • In my head, it would sound like Polaris would be even better than it currently is. Not many people would like that.
  • Status sounds like it would become overpowered, but this sounds more like a metagame shift towards naturally defensive armor being given more value.

How does the community feel about a lockdown option to play with no UV modifications? Are people happy with the way lockdown is right now? Would you think this would get more people into playing lockdown by removing the UV barrier? Do you think there are too many/enough/not enough people playing lockdown currently?

Related suggestions (before someone bites my butt for not doing my homework):
04/25/12 Heron: CE revives were recently removed, though extra changes seem too radical and would obsolete the existence of most things. The goal is not to make them useless, but to make sure people who don't have it aren't useless either.
08/27/12 Bulby: 4 trinket LD, very radical, hard to test. UVless as an option (and leaving everything else the same) is easy, and it's optional. Thus people who do like their UVs can play standard LD and go toe-to-toe with other top gear players which is great too.
01/06/12 Blue-Phaze: Entire LD revamp, including UV penalty based on Tier. Again, too big of a change to existing LD, unrealistic to expect a complete overhaul of LD. Can't really take a big part of end-game play and toss it up in the air and tell people (who invested a lot of money to get the best gear) oops sorry you bought that ASI VH stuff, now it's different, get used to our new system.
01/24/12 Keefachu: Clean LD suggestion except with trinket removal too, which I disagree with. Everyone can get Trinkets easily, they're not that expensive, and should be regarded as standard armor. One person's HP trinket isn't better than the other. People who opt to use weapon buff trinkets vs HP do so for that particular benefit and their playstyle. Some suggestion to have preset armor/weapon was made by Echoez but the problem is that it removes value of armor/weapon altogether. Lockdown still requires weapon/armor selection to create want/motivation to make and use gear.
08/12/13 Cradarc: Tierless lockdown to remove equipment from the equation. Similar issue as above, people like having gear, they like being able to pick and choose what to use. They like to window shop from the option of varied gear to use. What they don't like is having it rendered useless when it is generally encouraged to pick offensive gear and roll defensive buffs on them. More or less another radical idea, and still too many changes all at once.
04/19/13 Falconn: 1v1, 4v4, and custom lobbies are very similar to the options in standard PVP based games. One must wonder why Three Rings doesn't implement 1v1 or allowing players to join specific teams, and it makes some sense: allowing players to pick sides and fight randoms encourages stacking, where all the professionals run circles and laugh at newcomers. Their goal is really to make PVP a team based game (as such, that's why you can never win from having high Damage--this is obviously done on purpose), and those suggestions (even though I would like them, too) go against Three Rings' intent with Lockdown. It's not like they didn't think of it when they designed lockdown, they avoided those implementations on purpose.

The simpler the change, the more realistic its implementation. Don't let fantasy run wild over practicality. We can all ask for a never-ending, 24/7 captivating story with a huge supportive, balanced multiplayer option and 30 different weapons that we all agreed aren't overpowered and are all equally useful. That's a useless suggestion.

You know, most people buy UVs only for LD (who needs ASI VH flourishes to kill derpy wolvers)

The "experienced players" will never accept it and will rant about the millions they already spent for them.

I don't understand the

I don't understand the problem. Current lockdown would still exist and be left untouched. It is just one more mode of lockdown to queue up for, just like when you decide to queue up for Random or Guild. It would be "Random - No UV" and "Guild - No UV." It would encourage people to play more lockdown to get better at it than feel obligated to dish out money so they can play. Or feel like their UV-less Gran Faust is unusable.

Your money would not be wasted, and you would most likely be using your ASI VH Flourishes against other godly players too. Which is fun.

The only complaint is if you really wanted to use your ASI VH stuff against people who were absolutely defenseless and crush them. Which is kinda a douche thing to do.
