I know it's a terrible suggestion, but for some reason, I want to see this. Spiral Knight does regular maintenance at 8 a.m EST every morning (which I only know because I am sadly one of those people who pull all-knighter fests when I'm bored or owe someone cr/E.) Anyways, I got this idea when I was playing Gen I & Gen II pokemon games again for nostalgia when I thought of the addition of day and night to Gen II. I would also add seasons in here, but I have no idea if Cradle even has seasons (unless the Christmas promo counts)

It's useless in-game, but it just adds a nice effect to make a Specific Knight Time (SKT) and let the daylight adjust accordingly. Then again, that leaves the question as to how quickly Cradle's moon passes the sun... Is it the same as Earth or is it faster/slower? (I bet Game Theory on youtube would know.)

Let's suppose that it is the same as Earth. The average hours we get a day are about 12-14. The sun rises and sets earlier if you live in a coastal region, but Haven seems to be stationed inland, therefore, daylight time would be between [06:30-07:30] to [18:30-19:30]. This is a rough estimate based on how it seems here in EST without Daylight Savings Time. I factor DST out since the US and Europe are the only places that I know of that use it. (There are some players in Asia that are on SK, some of which are my guildies.)

Anywho, as you've probably figured out how this works so I'm sure you probably have another question other than '' Why the hell would the Devs waste their time programming this in? '' Probably something like, '' Well if it's going to be dark in Haven half the time, how the hell are we going to keep things lit? '' Here's my answer:

We already have Lamp Posts programmed in the game for the guild hall, I'm pretty sure it would take too long to modify it and put a few around Haven. Also, I'd like to see a clock in the middle of the fountain to display the time and the estimated time of sunrise/sunset depending on which one is about to happen. I'd kind of like it to look a bit like Big Ben and for its face to glow like a golden moon at night.

Next issue: What time will SKT be based off of?
Well I was thinking that it'd just be based off of OOO's headquarters.

'' What about if you aren't in the Town Square? Where will the clock be? ''
I was thinking that a digital clock would hang over the entrances to the Arcade in the Bazaar and Garrison.

This isn't really a seerus suggestion, more of a hypothetical plaything to think about if OOO ever gets to the point that they need something to do while they find new idea.

Instead of causing all europian players to play in the dark

Make it more like Minecraft's time system. I.E. Day for 20 minutes, Night for 10. Or something like that.

I did actually make a thread on how the current system works, assuming Dark Harvest Festival is night time, which it kinda is. But I would like to see the tileset of Haven changed into a nighttime one on a reboot and then back again the next reboot. Having "intermittent" tilesets and lighting and crap would be way too much fussing around, (if you've ever attempted to program a game with a lighting system, and then attempted to make that game have a day-night cycle, you'll know what I mean) so having them alternate at reboot would be cool.

@The-True-Cake That's true,

@The-True-Cake That's true, didn't think of that.

@Hexzyle This is also true. (and very cool! I probably wouldn't have thought of the moon being larger than Cradle o_o)
