I feel like I've been cheated out of something that i had earned. When logging into Spiral Knights during the homecoming event I expected to get a nice 5 star golden sword and a matching shield that i could use in Tier 3 but i got a slightly lacking 4 star honor blade and shield. I was disappointed as i had gained Tier 3 access and had done everything to Depth 0 to the core and somehow wasn't high ranked enough to receive the full honor blades and shield?
No, i hadn't finished all the missions but it's still felt wrong that i hadn't received the rewards for things i had already done but not exclusively in the missions.

It would be nice if there were recipes that i could use to upgrade my honor blade manually.

Or...

You could do one of two things:
1. Respect that it's a rare promo item and not devalue it by demanding a recipe, or
2. Keep your fingers crossed that there may be another Homecoming promo.
So I'm sorry but -1.

I don't think you quite

I don't think you quite understood what i was saying.

I wasn't demanding anything, i wasn't asking for the ability to make more, i was merely asking for a way to upgrade pre-existing versions because i felt it was unfair that the requirements were met but not through missions. No disrespect intended, but i doubt another Homecoming Celebration will ensue, as the celebration was to install Guild Halls to expand Guilds.

Ehh...

I still don't know about this.
Also, I don't think it even matters anymore. OOO has been throwing promo events back to back so they just might do it anyways.

First, saying 'cheated out of' what's basically a costume item showing at what Mission stage you were at that point might not be the right way to phrase it. It rubs me the wrong way, and I'm basically on your side.

So, I would like for my friends to be able to upgrade their 4* or even lesser stuff. I've been thinking for a long while that upgrading it but keeping the name (with an indicator) would retain the 'I was at that stage on that day'.

Just now I was wondering how to get the recipes. Buy them? Have them sent to you in Mail (seems like work to find the people and give them the right thing)?

But, we all get Leviathan Blade and Aegis Recipes through Missions. And the shield and sword are just reskins of those, no?

It would be neat if you could use those recipes to upgrade your free items, retaining the look that they have, and adding a "Lev" in front of the blade's name, and a "Aeg" in front of the shield's name.
I don't know how much work that would be for the programmers, though.

I was thinking something

I was thinking something along the lines of the hall of heros, there could be an Honor Guard in the hall of heros with the upgrade line, but not recipe to actually create the blade.

Well..

There could always be another Homecoming event sometime. I honestly had no idea why I got the Tempered Honor Blade and the Great Honor Guard in the mail one day, as at the time.. I had only been playing the game for a few days and just achieved the rank of Knight, only to have two new weapons floating around in my mailbox on there, as part of a promo.

It'd be neat if you could holster your sword or handgun, like the other AI knights in the game have their sword on their back, and I could've sworn I saw some people with a handgun on their waist. Players could 'assign' a sword/handgun to be displayed on a certain piece of armor, like the Cobalt Armor, for instance, and then they can wear that armor as a costume (assuming they don't already have it equipped as the actual armor) and display a weapon of their choosing. I'd display my Honor Blade on my back, as a sign of honor and that the Homecoming event had happened. It'd definitely be an interesting way to style your knight in a way that represents your playing style. Swordsmen can holster a favored blade from their arsenal to represent their thrills in melee, and gunslingers/marksman knights can have their favorite handgun on their waist. (if it's a huge gun, like the Argent Peacemaker, for example, it can go on their back instead.)

However, my thoughts about what another Homecoming event should have is Honor-reskinned armor and helmets, primarily on the Cobalt series. That'd be cool, and it would match perfectly with the Honor equipment that they *may* already have. Of course, if new players who haven't recieved the blade and shield yet log in when it's announced, they can recieve all 4 items there, and join in on saluting their fellow knights.

I dunno, I'm just banging my head on the wall here, seeing if I can pop out ideas.

I say "cheated out" because

I say "cheated out" because of what OOO has done to their older players.

The new players get more color choices, more starter helms and a really cool jacket to choose, along with the ability to be taller or shorter and get 2 accessories from the start all for free. They didn't offer a character re-creation for older players like i feel they should have.

And then after the mission update I'm suddenly not the highest tier anymore and the homecoming comes not too long after that.

Doesn't matter. It's an unfortunate phrasing, in my never humble opinion. It rubs me the wrong way, and is the sole reason you get no sympathy whatsoever from me.
How you phrase something can very well influence the reaction you get.

I started playing end of December 2011. Got T3 clearance the old way. I was delayed a whole week after Missions were introduced due to the old computer dying. The Homecoming thing was AGES after that, anyone with a mindset and a friend or two to help could finish the Missions by then.
(Btw, I have a suspicion that the way someone treats people, what they say, also influences what kind of friends they make. As the worst player ever, I had to be dragged through most T3 Missions. Had friends for not just that, but also to push my alt with pretty much unplayable gear through the Missions. Only reason he got the 4* stuff was because I had been in no hurry to get him to Vanguard. So, plenty of time.)

While I'd like a military Flak Jacket (preferably buyable on Bazaar), I'd be seriously upset if my noob armour, eyes and height were messed with. I can proudly say I paid hard Crowns for the freaking Ribbon on it. But that was my choice, from all accessories available. Nothing had to be destroyed to put it there, I had plenty of time to see what stuff there is in the game. And I do prefer the Military Party Blow out and Party hat on it besides the Ribbon.
I got eyes not that long after they were introduce. The only eyes I like the look of; closed. (Some lucky buy-now on ah.)
I got XTall (first from a box, but I sold that for cash), a long time later from when they were on Featured Auctions. (>1Mil, sigh.)

I don't feel 'cheated' out of anything. I actually had a wider choice. And as an OLD player, piled up enough crowns to buy stuff. Anyone who hasn't, if they're not playing SK, why do they want stuff in it?

You know what annoys me?

That they ruined the Pith Helm. It had a perfect, slightly dull but irresistible stare. It could stare down Elevators to change! But no, they had to cut holes into it, presumably for eyes, which looks totally horrible no matter what eyes you have behind it.

That there was no way to refund the real price for Bound Learned Recipes that you got from Missions. I still have the Strike Needle one wrapped around my grudge. And by now the 10k I paid for that recipe pre-Missions is petty cash.

The (2x)50k for Eyes and Height should be petty cash too, for any actually old player. Same for colours.

See, your phrasing got someone who was basically on your side to support the other side. Was that really your intention?
