okok...we have the forums, but I hate launcing steam, then launching the game to check mail or something simple like that. To fix this, I have created a sort of social system for each player to have. This is how it will work:

Each player will get their own page, they can customize it to their hearts content.

At the top, there will be a portrait of the player.

Right below that, there will be an 'about me' section.

Below that, there will be a chat section where they can chat in guild, trade, and private chat.

To the right of that, there will be a feed section where users can make comments on that persons page. Their picture will be their forum avatar.

To the right of the about me section, there will be an AH window where people can bid and purchase things.

At the very bottom, there will be all the standard hud buttons; settings, social, events, knight viewer, mail, load outs, forge, and arsenal. The persons status will be online while they are using their page.

To add some sort of economic point to this, there will be a chance (a little rarer than orb chance) of mobs and boxes dropping custom backgrounds that players can equip in game or on their page. They will be unbound when you get them.

~~~
I have created a sample picture of this so you don't get confused by my wall of text: http://dreathuxy.deviantart.com/art/Spiral-Knights-Page-Idea-sample-4051...
it's all about drupal, the engine that supports the forum. if drupal can, the forums can. otherwise just scrap this forum and make another one. we only need some threads, like Lug's, Sev's, and maybe some other.
At first I was thinking "The wiki already has all this!" when I saw the bio and the "can customize their page to their heart's content."
But then I saw the other stuff. Yes, this is a good idea. Although maybe not this advanced. Apparently OOO fired their website designer and no one there can make their pages. That's why the SK site hasn't been updated (aside from news stuff) since the RT release.
I suppose they're forcing an overworked Devil-IT to make the page, but he calls in sick 20% of the time, gets in a car crash 45% of the time, pulls all the circuit boards out of the computer so he can throw them at the executives 50% of the time, and pulls out the whole computer so he can throw it at the executives 4.9% of the time. What about the rest of the 0.1% of the time? He calculates the percentages of time which he spends doing things. Yes, that's why all the images on the About and Media pages are old.
Who needs fancy forums when there's a wikia.
That would be really hard to put all together (the copy/pasting! not the copy/pasting!)
My idea would make it functional, meaning that you would be able to have some in-game features of sk without actually playing it.
Except for the last couple of years, OOO has been "Trying to fix this issue." Which issue? The one where steam users cannot log into the wiki.
So basically..
you want a regular (non-idiotic) forum.
Seerusly tough, this is good. But yeah, they would probably need to hire some website designer.
No, I just want to have a social network integrated into the forums, so you don't have to launch the game to do basic functions like checking the AH and mail.
