the Steam version of Spiral Knights is not working for me, i have updated graphics drivers and java then completely uninstalled and reinstalled steam and spiral knights, and it is still not working. the game will work if i run it outside of steam, but i will not have my characters and inventory. i can post the error file if necessary.

same problem
I have the same issue. If I start the game through the Steam it closes itself and I can't login. I haven't received any error messages, but I tried to launch SK so many times hopelessly. But if I start it without Steam it works perfectly, but I can't reach my knight which is on my Steam account. It makes me sad, that I can't play and try the new missions, and I can't use my energy what I've bought. It's so nerve-racking. I really hope the team will fix it soon. I want to play NOW under the event time, not after everything.

Yes, if I disable the Steam, I can start the game, but I can't reach my Steam account where is my knight. And it has in this way no technical problem, it doesn't quit. But with Steam it quits.

Steam version not working.
I'm logged in in steam and i click to play spiral knights, when spiral knights appears its not my steam account, its my spiral knights account which i dont use right now, so there isn't even an option to go to steam account so at the moment i can't log in with steam account.

I have the same problem, please help OOO!!!! i want to farm as much as i can before the event stops because i need the graviton crusher! i see that many players have this problem so do something today!!!!! btw the standalone sk works, but not the steam sk. and dont say i should restart my pc or reinstall sk, i tried EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Steam version not working since 1:45am this morning
I was playing (on the elevator to the grasping platau, of course) and Sprial Knights just closed instantly. I have not been able to log in to spiral on any of my families steam accounts since then. Please fix this! Apocrea should be extended... I was within 50 sigils of getting a carbine... sigh... All I have to say is: I'm going to be UBER mad if slender man shanked me while I was offline and took my sigils... I'm going to be piiiiiiissed!!! Because I was literally traveling to the final floor of the mission.
Please fix the steam login issue, I am also unable to log in to post on the forums using my steam account. My forum name is Yvanblo...

Fixed the problem:
Went to game library
Spiral Knights > Properties > Local Files > Verify Integrity ...
Launched the game after cache was repaired , was patched , and I got on .

This should work for some
Go to your Steam Library -> right click Spiral Knights -> click Properties -> disable Steam community by unmarking "Enable Steam Community In-Game"
You can continue to play through Steam like normal except without the overlay (when you press Shift + Tab).
This is what Helios meant by disable Steam Overlay

Kinda same problem...
I have recently been getting black screen of death if I try to join one of my friends, or do anything. its getting really annoying, cause the dark harvest is about to end and I really don't wanna miss out. EDIT: fixed now.

Yep. The problem has changed from "can't log in" to "random black screen crashes transitioning in and out of missions". Steam Overlay never had anything to do with it.
EDIT: The integrity check recommended above caught 8 unvalidated files. This makes me suspect some server-related content was updated in SK regarding Steam that did not trigger an actual SK update.
