Just wondering, is there any way to check if a Guild Name is taken before actually buying the ticket?
Would the GMs mind being asked if a Guild exists with the specified name so that 7,000 energy isn't wasted? Alternatively, would publishing a list of all currently existing Guilds in the announcements forum or something be invading on anyone's privacy?
There's no way to check if a name has been taken. So I think the same is true for Guild names.

Just go to the guild hall, look if the name isn't taken, then just hope that it wasn't taken.
You could always create an alt and click guild options. Next, click on "Create a Guild" and check if the name that you want is taken or not.
Or you can go to the Guildhall in the garrison and ro- I mean scroll down the list of guildhall names. Basically what Cmere said.
But can't guilds lock their halls from being accessed by anyone other than a member?.. That makes the Garrison guildhall list kinda useless and unreliable.

Ah! Thanks for that advice, I never thought to check the wiki. It's not flawless, but it's a start.

I'm assuming (and this would probably be a pretty accurate assumption) that the ratio of the number guilds that have been disbanded to the number of guilds that have just gone inactive with at least one dead account still in the guild is probably pretty minuscule.

Uh. My playtime dropped a bit as I had other things going on in real life, and I also felt that I was stagnating in the guild. I decided instead of letting my idle name rot in the guild officer list, I'd quit while I was ahead and look around for another guild to meet new people. This never really took off though because I started to descend into somewhat of a break from Spiral Knights. A few weeks later, a couple of the other active Officers followed suit, and the guild kind of crumbled once we were gone.
It was a good run while we had it though. Gratz to Xeroi for single-handedly building the guildhall.
"Contri Craving Cats" is taken, sorry.
