I have a whole list of problems, and they may or may not be related to eachother.

Hi.

I bought a new laptop about a month ago, and it runs everything beautifully. Except Spiral Knights. Everything loads just fine and all that, but there are an incredible number of graphical issues, among other things.
Firstly, sometimes (not always) when I load into another stage, the minimap goes whack. It shows dates, random lines of code, and whatever else it decides to spit at me. This isn't a big deal, but it's still there. Second, about halfway through a stage everything on my screen will go nuts. Hearts will blink, if I'm with others their portraits on the left of the screen will disappear and reappear, my sprite will gain a whole number of graphical glitches, and items/vials/crowns/heat will turn into some other icon, whether it be half a red shard or a 2d representation of a heat orb. Slag breath sometimes turns into a solid rectangular shape, and I can't really tell what's going on by this point.

My last problem is tied with alt tabbing, and sometimes when I alt tab, the screen will be completely black when I remaximize it, except the cursor, which comes through perfectly. I can still type, supposedly can still move, can still perform actions, but I cannot see a thing.

Oh, and rarely, SK will just completely close. No warning, no nothing. Usually when I restart it, it will return me to where I was, but not always.

I'm not too technical but I'll put what I think needs to be here as far as specs.

Processor: Intel i7-4500 @1.80GHz 2.40GHz
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GT 745M

If I need to add anything else let me know, and any help is appreciated.

Weird, seems more like corrupted data ruining your gameplay experience, especially since it's on a "new" computer. Apologies for my macro below.

(FOR WINDOWS USERS ONLY)
Having Black Screen issues? Wrong/Weird Images? Or crashes when entering specific areas? See any game errors?
Diagnosis : Corrupted File(s)
Solution : Redownload and Reinstall the WHOLE OF SPIRAL KNIGHTS
FOR STEAM USERS

  1. Proceed to Spiral Knights Folder, usually located in C:/Program_Files(x86)/Steam/steamapps/common/Spiral_Knights/
  2. Delete this entire folder. The problem is not with the installation, but with the fact that you have corrupted DATA FILES. These data files come to you during downloading, and do not get affected by installation/uninstallation.
  3. REDOWNLOAD and REINSTALL the game through the steam store page. Try to ensure smooth and stable download speed, don't go and stream some video, take a break, it's not that long.
  4. If problem persists, contact SK support for further inquiries

FOR NON-STEAM USERS

  1. Proceed to Spiral Knights Folder. This is possible by starting the "Run" program located in your start menu. Afterwards, key in "%appdata%" to get to the /"User"/Appdata/Roaming / folder. Proceed to /"User"/Appdata/ and access the "LocalLow" folder. There will be a folder called "spiral".
  2. Delete this entire folder. The problem is not with the installation, but with the fact that you have corrupted DATA FILES. These data files come to you during downloading, and do not get affected by installation/uninstallation.
  3. REDOWNLOAD and REINSTALL the game through the official client page(This website/armorgames/newgrounds, wherever you downloaded it from). Try to ensure smooth and stable download speed, don't go and stream some video, take a break, it's not that long.
  4. If problem persists, contact SK support for further inquiries

Something else to try

Update your graphics card driver.

If you're on windows, open the device manager (in the control panel) and your video card will be under the "Display Adapter" area. Right click it and update. (I sometimes find that doing a manual update from the maker's website works better than using windows to update it.)

If you're on an ubuntu based linux, you can either use the display manager, or do the following commands:
jockey-text --list
jockey-text -e xorg:YOURDRIVER

Pick an available driver, and install via apt-get

If you're on mac, it should "just work" shouldn't it? (I don't know how to update drivers on mac.)

I don't know how to help with

I don't know how to help with this problem, but this is the exact same thing/how I DC. In levels like Grinchlin and Apocrea it gets worse with exiting out suddenly as the party member count increase. I'd also like to point out that after I got a new computer in March I started to have these DC's, which is similar to your case.
