Been trying to get the game to work for days on steam. I validated my files and it stopped working. I've tried everything. it stops at 90 something percent everytime on the launcher. I've done all of this. \/
1. uninstall SK, reinstall java. reinstall sk. Done this many times, even to the level of deleting java on the registry. And re-installing all of steam.
2. Refreshing steam files once everything is installed.
3. Replacing the getdown.txt and digest files. Even replacing all of the files with a working version my friend has and sent me.
4. I've followed the 5 steps on the wiki. Uninstall Spiral Knights (if it was installed locally).
Install the latest video drivers for your video card (see question 5).
Download the latest Java (see question 6).
Validate your firewall settings (see question 8).
(Re)install Spiral Knights

Nothing has worked.

Every time i validate, i get the same 6 files being corrupt, and usually its the same 83.5 mb.

Have you tried lowering your firewall settings? Most of the time it stops halfway was because the file got deleted by your firewall. Try lowering your firewall settings (computer OS, Anti virus, AND ESPECIALLY YOUR ROUTER/MODEM FIREWALL, BECAUSE THEY WILL ALMOST NEVER GIVE ANY INDICATIONS OF STOPPING CONNECTIONS)

Hey

Thanks for the speedy response. I already had my firewall disabled. I didn't have a antivirus. But i went to my modem settings and set the fire wall off. Then uninstalled spiral knights, reinstalled java. Restarted, reinstalled spiral knights. And am still getting the same launcher error report. Thanks for the suggestion though. Means a lot.

Apologies, I read through the getdown error log. Most apparent error is "2013/12/27 23:37:14:245 WARNING r.a: launch() failed.
java.io.IOException: Cannot run program ".\java_vm\bin\java.exe" (in directory "."): CreateProcess error=740, The requested operation requires elevation". What you need to do is grant java.exe the admin permission.

Try launching Spiral Knights as an administrator, if not, go to Windows User Account Control and provide the necessary permissions to the program named "java.exe". And, don't trust Steam's validation services, they never cache the up to date version.

Got it to run.

It clearly states that java.exe has admin permission when i go into steamapps/common/Spiralknights/java_vm/bin.
I even ran all the executables under admin to be sure of this.

The only way i got the game to run was to relabel the java executables.(I was doing this all night, been playing for the last couple hours) For some reason java_vm/bin didn't have javaws. I renamed java.exe in the bin folder of java_vm, javaw, and javaw, javaws. For some reason the steam version it was downloading did not have javaws and this apparently makes it work. Magic if you ask me. I don't code in java. I got lucky using intuition as i was reading about the different types of java. I'd revert back to try changing my windows user account control. But tbh, i really don't think that's it. I've read about several others having this problem on re-download. (maybe a server side cached corruption? Taking into account i deleted all of steam, java, and spiral knights, unless i missed a steam registry key) To me, it looks like for some reason steam isn't downloading the necessary files on certain accounts. I really have no clue. But this is the only thing that made it work. 10 something hours of trying different stuff. I'd love more dialogue. I only posted this in case others having the same problem find this as a temporary solution.

Again, my temporary solution was renaming java, javaw, and javaw, javaws. Goodluck, anyone having problems!
