Party leaders disconnect but the game doesn't remove them from the party. The rest of the party can't kick the disconnected player and therefore is unable to finish the level.

If a disconnected player doesn't reconnect within a few minutes they get logged off automatically. The party is then able to progress again. The party also gets assigned a new leader.
