New weapon idea: rocket launcher

This type of handguns would fire 1 rocket on medium range exploding upon hitting an obstacle, enemy or after the range is over. Weapons might look like Rocket Puppy heads hold directly on arm, without handle, like Gremlin Mortafire. Charge-only weapon(1 exception). Damage would be halved damage of Blaster series. Each launcher gets 20% chance to ignite enemies with minor fire. WARNING! Friendly Fire on! Weapon projectiles deal 1/3 of damage to Knights!

Proposed development:

Legend: er-explosion radius, fd-flight distance, d-default value(er=1/2 blocks, fd=5 blocks)

2*: Rocket Launcher(er=d fd=d)
3*: (er=d fd=d+2); (er=d+2 fd=d); (er=d+1 fd=d+1)
4*: (er=d fd=d+4); (er=d+4 fd=d); (er=d+1 fd=d+3); (er=d+3 fd=d+1); (er=d+2 fd=d+2)
5*: (er=d+6; fd=d); (er=d; fd=d+6); (er=d+1; fd=d+5); (er=d+2; fd=d+4); (er=d+4; fd=d+2); (er=d+5; fd=d+1); (er=d+3; fd=d+3); (er=d+2; fd=d+3; special ability - homing missiles); (er=d+3; fd=d+2; special ability - homing missiles); (er=d+1; fd=d+1; special ability - unrequired charge to fire(but still snailly slow); upon charge launches a rocket upwards that targets enemies)

And one more:
5* Blitz Rocket/Machine Launcher - basically like Blitz Needle, but fires (er=d+1 fd=d+1) rockets. Uncraftable.

You know, I'd kinda like to

You know, I'd kinda like to see some sort of Gun-type Rocket Launcher weapon that is similar to bombs in a way.

Charge-Only

This would give it a balance of potency and power. Because a rocket is already powerful enough on it's own, potential homing ability is something that might be taken into account as well.

+1. Might be a nifty idea.

gods ain't gonna help you, son.

charge time only, now it's ouclassed by pulsar.
to clarify, pulsar bullets explode at a distance; the charge attack one explodes straight away. even if you add fire, well, wait a few weeks and the LD rage will probably say enough.

The last thing we need is another AoE weapon; a gun, no less.

Also, 3.5 tile RADIUS? That's more than the Proto Bomb! 8 blocks range? I'm pretty sure that's more than an Antigua's charge attack weird bird thing.

Ok getting carried away now. In case you couldn't tell, my name is Bamzalot. I like it when things go boom. Unfortunately, I'm not the greatest bomber out there and most swords don't give me that boom I need. But I am a rather good gunner and having something like this in the game would just keep me glued to the game for that much longer.

I can see this being a somewhat overkill weapon, but being charge only should help balance that out. It also would be a lot less annoying than Pulsar spamming. I also like that 5* homing ability. I'm a bit surprised that hasn't been a thing yet to be honest.

But my question is, how powerful would it be exactly? Being a ranged bomb that fallows enemies around, it can't be too powerful or else they would be the only weapons used by gunners. Example: Tier 3 elite run at depth 28. You step on a party button and 10 Lumbers pop up. They start coming towards you so you kite them all into one group while charging a rocket. You fire rocket and... oh look! The gate is open now! Move along everyone.

And don't even get anyone started on Lockdown. If the Valiance alone can drive a person mad, just think about what a handheld Rocket Puppy will do.

I like it!

To make it more dangerous, maybe have the rocket explosions have friendly fire (tracking won't, obviously), or at least potentially light friendlies on fire. Explosion radius shouldn't be too large. Charge-attack only, and have it charge as long as a mist bomb so that it cannot be used constantly, even with CTR. Also, players should move at vortex-charge speed when charging.
How big should the model be so that it doesn't clip with the player or ground too much? It needs to be held in one hand.

Also I feel that the standard attack would shoot a puff of smoke out the front and push players or enemies back with about half as much knockback as an expanded pulsar shot with a three shot "clip".

hmm...

if it's not a pulsar, its the new RSS for us bombers!
i mean if it's 'charge-only' why not classfy it as a bomb? let the mad suit reap the benifits!

but in all seriousness, and AoE gun/ ranged bomb (/wink) why would OOO not put this in, i mean the DA's charge is a part, sword-ranged-AoE missile of doom.

@Demotastic It was made charge only to balance the weapon, as those two above my previous post typed. That was made to be a ranged weapon so that you don't commit suicide. But thanks for opinion anyway.

@Dark-Flame-Slayer: Friendly Fire was thought by me to make some sort of rocket jumps,as the rockets would have a lot of on-hit recoil. And I don't care about LockDown, it's already infuriating.

@Dragonuity: If you care about SK difficulty, propose readding mist.

It's not really a matter of whether or not you care about lockdown. It's a matter of increasing the probability of OOO actually taking your suggestion from 0.001% to 0.01%.

Also, mist simply limits the amount that F2P players can play and how quickly they can progress through ranks. It has absolutely nothing to do with the difficulty of combat.
