Technical Questions for the Admins

After having stopped playing Spiral Knights since the release until like a year ago, I didn't have a knowledge base on how the technical stuff works, outside the game that is. After creating a new account on my other, non-official steam account, I soon figured out that a computer is only allowed a single FREE ACCOUNT.

I realised that in order to have multiple accounts on a single IP, you'd have to have a paid account for the energy to regenerate in the normal pace. Well I didn't know that, and now that my main steam account has this thing where it doesn't regenerate energy at all and the energy bar thing has disappeared leaving me with my old account on a different Steam which inevitably I trashed because reasons (I've also forgot the username and password). And now, I'm experiencing technical difficulties or at least I think I am.

Here's the situation:
1) Main steam account (THIS) isn't a paid account and it doesn't work like how a normal free account would.
2) I assume this is an IP side thing. A single account for a single IP.
3) I forgot what my previous account was :I

And because I'm getting a new laptop, in a month's time, including a whole new internet provider, I was wondering if said main account would change back to an ordinary free account if I logged in with the new system. Or has the whole single account, single IP thing been embedded into my main steam account rendering it utterly useless? If that's so, do the admins have the power to change it? I guess this is the consequences of poor planning, always the nuances in the technicals that really screw you up bad.

First of all, core gameplay aspects have been completely revised and altered. Mist energy no longer exists. So no more complaining about energy.

Secondly, the energy sharing system is a client sided system. It just bases off whichever clients you log your accounts into.

Yes, I have heard from

Yes, I have heard from outside sources that elevators are now free and energy will only be used for crafting. And I might have been misinformed.

So what happens now, mist energy removed, core game play aspect revised. Are there any differences, even subtle ones from free accounts and ones which have their energy bars disappeared?

Not much differences between free accounts and paid accounts. The only incentive to paying is all the direct incentives you get: energy, items from the energy packs. Another benefit is the entitlement to card drops if you are on a steam account.

That's nice to hear, but I

That's nice to hear, but I think you misread the question.

I was wondering if there are any differences, if any at all with free accounts and alternate accounts which have their (previously) mist energy regeneration removed to prevent alternate account abuses. Not free and paid accounts.

I don't think the energy bar disappears, they just share the same mist energy.

Oh wow, these threads on

Oh wow, these threads on forums are confusing, some reckon they share the same allocated energy, and some reckon they don't have normal refilling times. it's just friggin confusing. Isn't there a thread or at least a FAQ mentioning how this thing works? Other players like myself had to learn it the hard way.

Anyways, thanks for the insight xD

Okay here's an example.

You have free account A and free account B.

Account A has 100 mist energy, he uses 50 energy, so now he has 50 energy left. Account A logs off.

Account B logs in and now have 50 energy, instead of 100. Mist energy still regenerates over time. Account B has 55 energy by the end of his play session. Account B logs off.

Now Account A logs in, and he has 55 energy.

This is a strange thread. ALL mist energy is gone for EVERYONE. Regardless of free or paid accounts. It is simply "energy" and it is exactly what "crystal energy" used to be. Many people still refer to it as crystal energy.

There should be no differences between free and paid accounts, other than ability to access Preview Server when it's actually available to the public.

I hope this clears up the confusion. You are free to play under whatever account you wish with no penalty, since there is no discernible advantage to having multiple accounts now.
